Capt D W Crisp Commanding Officer BorninSpokane,Wash.,Capt. Crisp gradu- ated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1 969. He then attended the Naval Post-graduate School, Monterey, Calif. earning a Master's DegreeinMathematics. Following Nuclear Power Training and Ba- sic Submarine School, he was assigned to his first submarine, USS Swordfish CSSN-5795 serving as Sonar Officer, Electrical X Reactor Controls Division Officer, Supply Officer, and Main Propulsion Assistant. Completing the Submarine Officer Advanced Course, he then served as EngineeringOfficer of USS Hawkbill CSSN-6663. After a tour at OP-Ol , Washing- ton, D.C., he was assigned to USS Permit CSSN-5945 as Executive Officer, and then as Commanding Officer of USS Po gy CSSN- 647D. He subsequently served as Deputy Commander for Readiness and Training onthe Staff of Submarine Squadron SEVEN and then as senior member of the Pacific Fleet Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board, followed by a short assignment as the Decommissioning Commanding Officer of USS Proteus CAS-193. Capt. Crisp has been awarded the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, N avyCommendationMedal, Navy Unit Commendation with Bronze Star, Battle Efficiency E with Wreath, Navy Expedi- tionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with three Bronze Stars. Heismarried to Cmdr. Donna Lynn Chesus Crisp of Redlands, Calif. They have three children, Howard, Eric and Jessica. 5
