Home Economics offers young women the opportunity to receive training in homemaking. Empha- sis is placed on attitudes, and skills that help the student partic- ipate in home and family life, rec- ognizing the family as an impor- tant factor in the development of well adjusted individuals. Classes such as Essentials of Nutrition and meal management are practical courses dealing with the impor- tance of nutrition and good health. Interior decorating and Home Fur- nishings are practical studies of care, arrangements and refinishing of furniture to aid in making an attractive home. A favorite among students is Child Development. Students are made aware of the growth patterns and needs of the child. Before comple- tion of the class, a nursery school gives students the opportunity to observe and participate with the activities of pre-school children. The subjects offered in the Busi- ness Department suggest a two- year program. The aim is to train the student for personal use, vocational training and the con- tinuation in a 4- year institution. Elementary accounting, business machines and mathematics, and business law are excellent courses to prepare the individual in areas of accounting or business admin- istration. Economics and secretar- ial science are also part of the curriculum.
