Neely The Supply Department procures, receives, stows, issues and accounts .for all stores, equipage, repair parts, nuclear weapons material, assorted.test equipment, lubricants, ship stores stock, clothing and small stores stock, subsistence-stocks, and special stocks of class 207 materials. The Supply Department provides num- erous services to the ship, it operates the various messes, Ship Service functions lLaundry, Ship Store, Soda Fountain, Tailoringl, Automatic Data Processing, and Food Service. . S-I Division is responsible for the procurement, receiving, issuing, stowing and accounting for some 80,000 items of general stores material, repair parts, and certain dental and medical supplies. The Division operates 38 storerooms and maintains the fiscal records of the DIXIE. y S-2 Division lCommissaryI operates the general mess and stores subsistence items. This division procures, receives, stores and issues some 5,000 food items. lt operates eight storerooms and four freezefchill storerooms. S-3 Division procures, receives, stores and accounts for all ships store and clothing items. The division also operates resale and service activities such as the ship's store, laundry, dry cleaning, tailor shop, soda fountain, barber shops and vending machines. S-4 Division collects and disburses all public funds aboard ship. The divi- sion prepares and pays all travel claim reimbursements, performs all afloat pay and allowance functions. S-5 Division operates and maintains the 0fficers Wardroom Mess, the Com- manding 0fficer's Mess, the Warrant 0fficer's Mess and Officers Country living spaces. S-6 Division operates and maintains the Automatic Data Processing equip- ment. This division is responsible for providing the computer services required by the UI500 Supply and Accounting programs and the 3M Data Collection programs to the entire ship. The Supply Departments largest function is in the material support. of the Repair Department in order for the DIXIE to fulfill its assigned mission.
