JAPAN ME lltilt After returning to Yokosuka from Hong Kong, Dixie had Seventh Fleet Destroyers alongside for repairs and supplies. 1 June found us once again at sea headed for Kobe, Japan for a short rest and relaxation period. Kobe is the second largest port city in the Far East With about 5,000 ocean vessels coming in and out in a year, handling more than two- thirds of Japan's total exports and imports. Many of the crew took tours to nearby Takarazuka to see the World famous Girls Opera and Dance Review. Some Went to ancient Kyoto, first capital of Japan, to see its fabled beauty and historic shrines. Also visited was Nara, acclaimed so be one of the most-beatiful national parks in the World. While others prefer- red to remain in Kobe enjoying the excite- ment of that active city. After a three day visit, DIXIE headed for her overseas home port of Yokosuka to her ever increasing duties.
