S NIOR HISTCDRY 1941-42 The class of 1945 has had many happy memories of their achievements and activi- ties during their days at dear old Dinuba High. lt all began in 1941, when they were initiated and welcomed into school by the upperclassmen. From there they entered into activities wholeheartedly. ln boys' athletics, Lewis Andrews, Gerald l-loagland, Vxfillard Dial, Joe Martzen, and Gerald Babcock took part. While such girls as Dorothy Linzmeier, Mary Ellen Park, Bernice Stucky, Virginia l-licks, Lila Murrell, Betty Wake, Ann Tatarian, Mary Lee Bartlett, and Carmen Cisneros were active in the sports for girls. Officers for the year were: President, Lewis Andrews, vice president, Robert Weaver, secretary-treasurer, Mary Grace Nikkel. 1942-43 The sophomore year of the class of '45 was indeed a lively one. A special band was featured on their assembly program and also a play, Doubling for Ann. Betty Jane Dial, Barbara Chase, Joe Martzen, Roy Martin, and Duane Miller took part in it Music lovers interested in the orchestra, band, and glee club were: Bette Burt, Alice Lieder, Ruby King, Carmen Cisneros, Es- 16 ther Ford, Lewis Andrews, Keith Steele, Eleanor Martzen, Mary Lee Bartlett, Lo- Wayne Tidwell, Beverly Brockman, Virginia l-licks, Dorothy Linzmeier, and Betty Jane Dial. Although underclassmen, the sopho- mores carried most of the parts in the Stu- dent Body play, Don't Keep l-lim Wait- ing. Barbara Chase was chosen for one of the leads, and others in the cast includ- ed .loe Martzen, Roy Martin, Betty Jane Dial, and Duane Miller. Their officers were: President, Joe Mart- zen, vice president, Shirley Miller, secre- tary, Betty .lane Dial, treasurer, Virginia Babcock. 1943-44 The Junior-Senior Prom was the major event of the class ot '45, which was held March 31 in the gym. Springtime in the South was the theme. Brains of the junior class were: Mary Margaret Vetter, Lee Ann Gillen irespec- tively vice president and secretary of the Scholarship Societyl, Alice Lieder, Bette Burt, Clarice Vose, Doris Wooley, Ethelrae Malech, and Eldon Bowen. ln sports, both boys and girls took an active part in football, basketball, track, and baseball. Shadows in the Night, the Student Body play presented May 19, was entirely
