Doorways regulate the pulse of school life Doorways are openings into a building or a room, a network of ar- teries and veins directing the flow of students from outside to inside, from corridors to classrooms, from lob- bies to gymnasiums and auditoriurns. They open the way at DillonHigh School to a fortress of learning, where democracy is a permanent part of the curriculum of every sub- ject, and where the laws of fair play and sportsmanship are taught. They swing wide to expel ignor- ance and prejudice. They open and shut to remind us of our duty to work in Dillon High School and to be sincere in our at- titude toward its traditions, so that we may receive the benefits it of- fers. . They close silently to suggest that such an attitude will reflect well upon our school, and thus preserve those same traditions which are our heritage as students. Captured in the approach to, the passage through, and the departure from our doorways is the student's attitude toward the ,school itself, toward the faculty, toward his fel- low students, and toward the activ- ities in which he participates. These are the component parts, the pulse of school life.
