If then, upon taking up this GNOME, the faces known and events experienced in these our colorful high school years will seem to come alive with renewed vigor, we will be sufficiently rewarded. THE EDITORS Table of ontents P all l l ADMINISTRATION SENIORS lf i i i ACTIVITIES 2,5 I,, , si- SPORTS I EI' ADVERTISEMENTS 4 PAGE PAGE PAGE PAGE PAGE fl' 'C-17 BARBARA CZARNECKI November 27. 1935 December 22. 1952 Barbara Czarnecki, one of the most outstanding students of Dickinson, had been President of this class for three terms. She was a member of the Latin Club, Honor Society, Nurses Candidates Club, Sports Functions, and theiiDickinsonian Editorial Staff . Words cannot tell our love, or express what is in our hearts, for her upon whom the hand of death so suddenly descended. We shall always remember Barbara as light of heart, pure of purpose, full of tenderness and friendliness towards all. Barbara made each day a little more pleasant for everyone who had an opportunity of enjoy- ing any association with her. Life is worthwhile when one has had the friendship of such a person. But we must not forget that The soul of her, the glowing, gorgeous, fervent soul of her, surely is flaming in eager joy upon some other dawn. We, the class of June 1953, wish to dedicate this symbol of our hopes, activities, and accomplishments of these four years, our Gnome, to the memory of Barbara Czarnecki. 5 mr. yamw J. Connoffy PRINCIPAL Imperceptibly, the sands of our high school years have run out and we stand on the margin of forever. How foolish of us to have thought that ours was the eternal pref sent when in the mere living we knew that the present was but a fleeting and crowding procession of tomorrows. Indeed, our present moment was ever as quicksilver-gone while we were merely pronouncing the word. Why did we not convince ourselves that we did not have to look to the future-for the future was now? fWhat does it matter now?j The four years was treasure, to be sure-but it had to be spentg it could not be hoarded in a miserliness of regret. The important reflection is upon the how of the spending, which measures the wisdom of the spender. You have spent well and are wiser for the spending. Class of june 1953-we linger over this goodbye to you until we finish the prayer that your souls be strong with the courage of eternity and your hearts throb with the perpetual sweetness of timeless song. 6 ADMINISTRATION 1959, 'U lil SPATZ' MR.
