THE GNOME JUNE DR. HENRY S. COOLEY, PH.D., B.S., M.S. RETIREMENT At the beginning of this term the Faculty and Students had the misfortune of losing one of its very valuable and esteemed teachers. Dr. Henry S. Cooley, Ph.D., B.S., M.S., one of the few teachers to come to Dickinson with a Doctor's Degree was forced to retire because of ill health. He received his Ph. D. at johns Hopkins and his B.S. and M.S. at New York University. For twenty-seven years Dr. Cooley was a teacher of high rating in both Civics and History. His excellent work in this department won him recognition and as a result he was chosen head of the History Department. Since his retirement Dr. Cooley is residing at his home in Mahwah, N. J., where he spends most of his time at work among his various plants and flowers. We all hope with the deepest sincerity that Dr. Cooley will soon regain his health so that we may once again be benefited by his willingness to help us and his kind and cheerful word to all who asked his help. Twenty-two
