1961 Class Histor
Four years ago about thirty-five students ventured upon the steps of Dibrell High School. Nearly
everyone was frightened about facing the change of a new life to a more educational system known as
"high school."
A few faces were new to us at first. We didn't know which way to turn, but we soon found our way
around with help from teachers and upperclassmen.
We were given a name, Freshmen, and we became a part of the life of the school. At first some
often wished that they had never been found, but, before the year was over, we became throughly at
home in our new surroundings.
After being taught our ABC's in elementary school, we took on a new and exciting subiect known
as "Algebra. "
When the time was drawing near, and we had iust begun to learn to conquer the difficult tasks we
had to give up our name and accept a new one, Sophomores, the second step of the ladder in learning.
ln our second year at Dibrell we began to realize that we had different organizations and clubs of
which we could be members, such as: Beta Club, fif you met the requirementsl, F.F.A. , and H. T. C.
The sophomore year found us all working and trying to do our part in order to receive a seat among
the best.
Before we knew, we had another promotion 'to a higher degree. We became known as Juniors, the
third step of the ladder. Several things happened in this school year, 59-60, ordering class rings, and
invitations for the following year which was drawing close to an end.
The Junior Play revealed that we had actors and actresses in our class and even some might become
real out in life.
Now, we have come to the last and final step at "Dear Old Alma Mater," which is the fourth step
of the ladder.
From the four years that we have spent at Dibrell, we have accomplished many lessons, several from
the hard way, but from these lessons we have grown stronger in heart and mind.
The class of '61 has set a record for the following classes to challenge. We hope that the class of
61 is one that fellow students, teachers, citizens of the Dibrell Community, and anyone else that you
can turn to can say, "this is one of the best classes that has ever graduated from Dibrell."
But at the end of this hard fought battle, we know what we do today, determines what we shall be
tomorrow.
Speaking in behalf of the class of '61, we all want to thank God for giving us a land of opportunity,
a land of plenty, and a place where we can live with one accord and be as one in the sight of God.
I hope that our class motto, "We Regret That We Have But One School Life To Live," will hold
true for years to come.
