COMMA DING OFFICER CDR JOH A. MACK, USN 4 SEPTEMBER 1972 - I1 JANUARY 1974 Commander MACK is a native of Manchester, New Hampshire, from where he enlisted in the Navy in 1945. He attended Aviation Radio School in Memphis, Tennessee, and served for ten years as an Aviation Radioman and Air Controlman. He became a Chief Petty Officer in 1952 and, in 1955, was commissioned an Ensign after completing Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. Commander MACK's first tour of -destroyer duty covered three years on board the USS THE S ULLI VANS IDD-5372 where he served consecutively as Anti-Submarine Warfare Of- ficer, Gunnery Officer and Chief Engineer. He then served three years on the Staff of Com- mander Destroyer Force, U. S. Atlantic Fleet as Assistant Force Gunnery Officer and as Officer-in-Charge of the DESLANT Afloat Gunnery School. During his tour he assisted in the establishment of the Naval Destroyer School. After these assignments he served as Operations Officer on the USS GLENNON IDD-840j and afterwards as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer on the Staff of Commander Cruiser Destroyer Flotilla Two. From 1964 to 1967 Commander MACK served in the Bureau of Naval Personnel as a detailer and Assistant Head of the Surface Junior Officer Assignment Section. He then joined USS MACDON OU GH KDLG-8j for a two-year tour as Executive Officer. During this period he also served as Navigator for Commander Destroyer Squadron Six. A year in Vietnam as Senior Advisor, Vietnamese Naval Training Center at Cam Ranh Bay, Republic of Vietnam, was followed by his most recent assignment as Vietnam Placement Officer in the Officer Distribution Division of the Bureau of' Naval Personnel. Commander MACK is married to the former Catherine Aucoin of Morgan City, Louisiana. They have three sons, two daughters, two granddaughters and two grandsons. The family will make their new home in the Louisville, Kentucky area where Commander MACK will command the Naval Recruiting District.

N CDR JOE P. HARRISO , USN 11 JANUARY 1974 - Commander HARRISON enlisted in the U. S. Navy in June 1949 at Little Rock, Arkan- sas. During his enlisted service he achieved the rate of Chief Petty Officer and served aboard destroyers in the Korean Theatre and the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets and as an instructor in the Naval Fire Control Technician School at Great Lakes, Illinois. In 1956, he was accepted as a student in the first class of the Navy Enlisted Scientific Education Program at Purdue University. Commander HARRISON graduated from Purdue with a BSEE with highest dis- tinction and received his commission in January 1960. Subsequent shipboard duties included a tour aboard USS NORTON SOUND KA VM-lj 11960-615 and USS BAINBR-IDGE fDLGN-25j C1961-635. From 1963-65 he attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and received his MSEE degree. Following a one-year tour with the Operational Test and Evalua- tion Force in San Diego, California he served during the period 1966-67 as Commanding Of- ficer of River Division 543 in the Mekong Delta in the Republic of South Vietnam. This assignment was followed by tours aboard USS WILLIAM V. PRATT KDLG-I3j C1967-693, and USS SELLERS KDDG-1 lj as Executive Officer C1969-703. Commander HARRISON was Ordered to duty with the NROTC Unit, University of California, Berkeley in the summer of 1970- After Serving two years as the Senior Class Instructor and Advisor he assumed duties as 'Che Commanding Officer 011 1 July 1972 and served in that capacity until July 1973. Since that date he has been assigned to the Staff of Commander Destroyer Squadron THIRTY-FOUR while awaiting assignment. V 1 Commander HARRISON's decorations include the Bronze Star with combat V , Navy Commendation Medal with C0IT1bat V , Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with bronze star, the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal with two stars, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, and Campaign medals from the Korean Theatre and the Viet- namese conflict. Commander HARRISON is married to the former Maureen COVE of Yorkshire, England.
