DUERMEYER LlEuTENAN't corv'MANDER,, USN Q - , , ...- A--v----'Y -AMA . , 4 ya 5 , 2:N,4 hr I Lieutenant Commander Stephen Paul Duermeyer was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, in I942 and raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa. , Following graduation from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, in I964, he attended Officers Candidate School and received his commission in I965. After a tour as Engineering Officer of the USS ALBATROSS CMSC 2895, he attended U.S'. Naval Destroyer School. He then served successive tours as Engineering Officer of the USS HARTLEY CDE IO29D and USS GARCIA CFF IO4Oj. f . LCDR Duermeyer's tours include Commanding Officer of USS TILLAMOOK CATA l92J and USS NIPMUC CATF I57D. Followed by assignment to Staff, Commander in Chief, U.S. Naval Forces Europe, he attended the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich, England. After the tour in England, he was assigned as MPA of the USS SARATOGA QCV 605. LCDR Duermeyer assumed the duties of Executive Officer of the USS DEWEY in early April l978. Terry Qdeceasedj and Sara Terry of Sherman, Texas, was born in Dallas, Texas, in l938 and raised in LaPorta, Texas. A l96O graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Commander Terry then completed training for the naval nuclear power program. After a tour in the engineering department of USS KING CDLG-IOD, Commander Terry returned to the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Idaho Falls, Idaho, as a member of the training staff. He was then assigned to the pre-commissioning unit of USS TRUXTUN QDLGN-355. He attended the Naval Post graduate School in Monterey, California, earning an MS in Electronics Engineering in December l97I.' ln January I97l, Commander Terry was assigned as Reactor Control Assistant of USS ENTERPRISE CCVN-655 followed by a tour as Executive Officer of USS 'PREBLE CDLG-l5j and Engineering Officer of USS LONG BEACH CCGN-95. Commander Terry has been awarded the Navy Comm6l1dati0I1 Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy- Unit Commendation, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Commander Terry is married to the former Katherine Gallagher of Lindenwold, New Jersey. They have two children, a daughter Megan and a son Gregory. T
