Q Freshmen Increase Social Standing Entering into the ninth grade, the freshmen ioin some of the many senior high extracurricular activities. The freshmen consider these privileges, such as going to senior high parties and mingling with the upper classmen important assets to their school life. With the aid of tests given by the guidance director, the freshmen uncover their best abilities and choose sub- jects that vvill aid them in planning their vocations. With the help of their teachers, who have taken a special interest in each individual, they develop self-confidence and realize the importance of cooperation in regular class organization and social functions. 2 v-sv 7 Ks 1 3 Q '55 af' Realizing that they are now part of all school life, the freshmen become one of the most enthusiastic groups at games, parties assemblies, and any other gatherings in which they are included. Fresh Off the Press, the freshmen's bi-weekly newspaper, offers iournalistic op- portunities to the future DeLalconian and Detronian staff members. Their class is enlarged by the rural and parochial students and their addition to school spirit is very notice- able to the entire student body. Through the year the freshmen class developes interest and prominence in school and community life. Anderson, Dennis Anderson, Lesley Arneson, Phyllis Baber, Patricia Baulcol. David Baxter, J, D.
