In other meets, the teom ployed ot Bemidii finishing fourth ond Moorheod, where they ploced second. Although no victories were won, the showing of the linksters wos certoinly meritoble since the snow on the course limited practice. Dean Weimer proved to be a big asset to the squad as he copped the Region Six 220-yard dash and placed second behind Borstad in the district 220. Voted most valuable on the team was Darold Thompson. The Horse performed brilliantly as he won the district and region high jump events. ln the district he set a new record by jumping 5 ll . For l955 the Lakers have a veteran squad which is aiming for the District 23 title. Thompson The Horse doing 5 ll for Region 6 Title

Row ll: Coach Bill Eberhardt, Paul Stary, Phil Hayes Netters Take District Title Prospects look good this spring that the tennis team will go to the state finals, Last year D. L. opened the season by defeating Wadena l2-2 and then went to Grand Forks to see Jack Kramer play professional tennis with Seclgman, Segura, Riggs, and Gonzalez. Allen Johnson and Jim Sundahl won the doubles while Phil Hayes placed second in the dis- trict tournament. At the regional Phil Hayes placed second in singles, but the doubles team lost. Their vacation occurred the time of the state finals so Phil forfeited to a Brainerd player. The tennis team consisting of Coach Eberhardt, Paul Story, Gary Kludt, Allen Johnson, Tom Jacob- son, and Phil Hayes will play for berths in the i955 state finals this spring.
