Dean Weimer proved to be a big asset to the squad as he copped the Region Six 220-yard dash and placed second behind Borstad in the district 220. Voted most valuable on the team was Darold Thompson. The Horse performed brilliantly as he won the district and region high jump events. ln the district he set a new record by jumping 5 ll . For l955 the Lakers have a veteran squad which is aiming for the District 23 title. Thompson The Horse doing 5 ll for Region 6 Title

For the second straight year, the Detroit Lakes baseball club was forced to limit the number ot their games to tive because ot poor weather. The Lakers completed the season with a I-4 record. Rain and cold held up the Detroit Lakes practice sessions early in the year and prevented the playing of their tirst game until tournament time when they were dropped in the initial District 23 tilt by the Pelican Rapids Vikings. The Redclads had considerable bad luck all season and continued to be subdued by their opponents. Their only win came against Park Rapids as they exploded for the victory and then simmered down by losing to Moorhead in the season finale. For the T955 season the DL Redclads will have eight monogram winners back again. Among them will be: Pitchers Bill Piechowski and John Fitzgerald, catcher Jerry Fox, second baseman Phil Meyer, third base- man Rodney Lia, and outtielders Dave Albright, Dean Weimer and Russ Landt. In other meets, the teom ployed ot Bemidii finishing fourth ond Moorheod, where they ploced second. Although no victories were won, the showing of the linksters wos certoinly meritoble since the snow on the course limited practice.
