As a relatively new school in the city, Des Moines Tech offers a magnificent and varied extra-curricular program of which we as students may be proud. Several new organizations have been added to Tech's roster since we seniors came to Tech in 1961. The Rocket Club, Kiwanis Key Club, Ad Club, and Aqualinas are but a few of the organizations whose birth we viewed. Many of our clubs performed or hosted excellent programs for various purposes, this year, which brought a little fame and much enjoyment to Tech students and, on many occasions, the public in general. For example our Drama Club presented two plays, the Aqualinas displayed their swimming talents in a water show, the Ad Club hosted the Women's Ad Club Advertising Workshop, the Pep Club hosted a Sadie Hawkins and a sophomore dance, the Future Teachers hosted the FTA State Conven- tion, and DECA treated us daily with snacks from the new DE store. Our Student Council again put forth excellence in their endeavors and proved to be perhaps the most active and representative group yet engaged in student government at Tech. Their fund raising and school promotion projects included the annual Dirty Dribblers - Faculty game, a Hootenanny, including four acts from Drake University, and a per- formance of the movie West Side Story. It has, therefore, became apparent to us as we leave Tech that extra- curricular activities and organizations are not only vital for development and maturity of the student body as a whole, but they also provided many delightful hours of useful labor and entertainment. 47
