We await this event with hope and eagerness, for lt will open the door to new experiences and opportunities. But ln doing this it brings to an end some of the most memorable years of our life. Even while we are awaxtlng that day, we are looking backward and saying, Remember when ? Remember whenqwe entered high school as Freshmen? How proud we were! This was the first major step toward our goal It was a year filled with memories of joy and good times Then we became Sophomores and we were finally on our way By this time we were becoming accustomed to our new life and took ln our stride the added re sponsibilities However, our fondest recollections will always be of our Junior year Remember the day we received our hats and pennants That day we were bubbling over with excitement We were announcing to the world that we were Juniors! B our most important events were our fxrst class play and our prom We shall never be able to forget the pride and anxiety of our first night' Nor shall we forget the prom , our first formal affair These memories shall linger with us always We ended our careers as Juniors with the annual class picnic at Greenwood Park This, too will always be remembered by us As we began our Senior year the realization came to us that these were to be the last enjoyable times together Not for long would we work and play as a group Too quickly we were becoming mdividuals too soon we would be separated And so, we are making this, our last year, one to remember forever We humbly express our thanks and gratitude to our teachers and advisors who helped us ln making it so Do we remember ? Of course, we dol We shall remember 1t always from our very first day to our last from roll call to dismissal Yet ln remembering these past events, we do not forget that soon we shall say farewell to our beloved Y H S ' On that day our adventures here will take their place as another chapter ln our life's story 1' WWKMW MW UQ KV!lNV1W! The by-laws were drawn up, officers elected and committees ap- pointed. A11 winners of letters in the major sports are automatically received as members of the club. The purpose of the club is mainly threefold. First, it wishes to make the earning of a letter an important accomplishment. Second. it hopes to bring about better sportsmanship, improve the academic standards, and promote co- operation among athletes. Third. it desires to create a better school spirit toward sports. Among the achievements of the Varsity Club thus far are promoting the adoption of the letter DH for all high school activities and the awarding of sweaters to graduating seniors. In the future the club hopes to be able to pro- vide camping for the football team. William Riden, James Leader, Beaver S. Faust. New Sights Around Derry High Two innovations seen around Derry High the latter part of this year are the Pontiac sedan and the electric scoreboard. The Pontiac is being used in connection with the drivers' training course which has been added to the regular courses. The driving course is the second to be instituted in Mifflin County. It is a cooperative move be- tween the Pontiac Motor Division of the General Motors, the school, and the area dealer. l The course consists of a class in theory one period each day for six weeks,a.fter which the class begins actual driving, under the direction of Mr. Leader, who was certified at Pennsylvania State College last summer. The new electric scoreboard was purchased from the All-American Scoreboard Company through funds raised from contributions of students and patrons. The scoreboard provides much interest for the players, coaches, and spectators. It was used for the first time at the Derry-Burnham game on February 1. p he n p . It has been the dream of all Derry supporters for years to have a new athletic field. Our Council has made possible this year the completion of the first great step in the fulfillment of that dream. The students and public are now anticipating its completion with the erection of bleachers and a new fence around the field. We feel sure that the t Council will accomplish this in the near future, for even now they f are receiving bids from various companies for these two final projects.
