X DEDICATED T0 Mark This boolc is designed and dedicated to the youth of our school and our country who devotedly pledged them- selves to the winning of the war, and who now must find a way to insure lasting peace and prosperity. ln a world so full of pit-falls, this will be a hard thing to do. But these young men and women who have preserved democracy in times such as we have just experienced, will surely not fail us in the greater taslc of preserving it in the even more trying times that are to come. These young men and women have valiantly carried the torch of Liberty and Truth in times when all things seemed darlc and hopeless. They helped our government by buying War Bonds and Stampsf they contributed their time and energy to the American Red Cross and other different aid societiesf they gave to foreign war relief, contributed clothing and other items of luxury to enlighten the lives of unfortunate victims of the cruel war in Europe and Asiaf they also toolc on jobs of various importance to alleviate the gigantic manpower shortage, and there were countless other unselfish acts on the part of these generous patriots that will never be forgotten by those who were aided by the loyal and devoted youth of America. That is why our assurance of a brighter tomorrow is guaranteed by these conscientious young people who have shown that they are able to distinguish might from right.
