Counci! bers take an active part in South's safety program and help at fire drills. They are also in charge of the halls during class hours and assist at school assemblies. Safety Council boys also usher at many evening programs. .742 'LS' CM The S Club, the sport club of South, is sponsored by Mr. Finis Ketcham. The club mother is Miss Helen Burnham. The club, under the leadership of Dick Yates, president, and Chris- tie Chicadus, secretary and treasurer, has had a successful year. Any boy who has made a letter in any varsity sport is eligible for initiation into the club. The main activity this year was the Father and Son night which was attended by many South students and their fathers.

The girls also contributed to the Needle-work Ciuild activities. The club gave twenty-five dollars to the Red Cross and twenty-five dollars to the War Chest. This group of active senior girls show their spirit in the drill teams at the football games. The Pep Club also marched in the Armistice and Memorial Day parades. The Pep Club sponsors the Sophomore Tea and edits the Southern Cus- toms guide book, presented to the sophomores, The girls also sponsor the Pep Club Dance and are the hostesses for the Parent-Teacher Association meetings.
