LCDR R.R. ROSSIOnOL EXCUTIVE OFFICER The XO greets General Mundy, Commandant of the Marine Corps. ' COforadayl Lieutenant Commander Roy Richard Rossignol was bom in Mew Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Mississippi Qulf Coast Junior College, receiving an Associates De- gree. He was granted a Bachelors Degree in Political Sci- ence from Delta State University in 1975. Lieutenant Com- mander Rossignol enlisted in the U.S. Mavy in 1976. Lieutenant Commander Rossignol ' s first officer tour was as Combat Information Center Officer in USS SPIE- GEL GROVE (LSD 32). While onboard SPIEGEL GROVE, he was also Second Division Officer and Electrical Officer. Be- tween August 1983 and October 1992 he served chrono- logically on the Staff of Commander, Amphibious Group TWO embarked onboard USS MOUHT WHITMEY (LCC 20); Amphibious Warfare Instructor at naval Amphibious School, Little Creek Virginia; Operations Officer in both USS COROMADO (AGE 11) and USS COFiYMGHAM (DDG 17). He attended the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and also attended the Armed Forces Staff Col- lege in October 1990 to complete his Joint Professional Military Education. Lieutenant Commander Rossignol served in the staff of Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic prior to reporting as Executive Officer of USS DEfiVER (LPD 9) in October 1992.

COMMAriDiriQ OFFICER Captain Arthur James Gilbert was bom in Orange, New Jersey on 30 September 1945, the son of Arthur W. and Loretta M. (Connor) Gilbert. He graduated from Orange High School in 1963 and subsequently entered the U.S. naval Academy where he was commissioned on 7 June 1967. Following his commissioning he served in USS RUPER- TUS (DD 851) as Gunnery Assistant until October 1969. As part of the naval Advisory Group, USMACV he was the Senior Advisor, Coastal Group 28 in Phan Thiet, the Re- public of Vietnam from January 1970 until January 1971. In March 1972 he attended the Naval Destroyer School Department Mead course and served as Weapons Depart- ment Head on USS REASOriER (DE 1063) from October 1972 to February 1975 and Chief Engineer on USS LEAHY (CQ 16) from August 1977 to December 1979. He was Ex- ecutive Officer, USS THOMASTON (LSD 28) from April 1980 until November 1981. In June 1985 he assumed command of USS FORT FISHER (LSD 40) which he held until October 1987. He then became Executive Officer, USS PELELIU (LHA 5) from December 1987 until July 1989. Captain Gilbert served as Assistant Chief of Staff for GPS Plans for Commander, Amphibious Group ONE on- board USS OKINAWA from July 1989 to February 1990. Captain Gilbert has had shore duty with Fleet Training Group, Pacific as a weapons observer. Fleet ASW Training Center, Pacific as an instructor, and in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations as Enlisted Community Man- ager for Combat Systems Ratings. He holds a Masters De- gree in Business Administration earned in 1977 as part of Pepperdine University ' s Executive Program. His last shore duty prior to reporting as Commanding Officer of USS DENVER was as Assistant Chief of Staff for OPS Plans for Commander, Amphibious Group THREE. Captain Gilbert ' s personal awards include the Bronze Star with Combat V , Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars. Navy Commendation Medal wdth Combat V , Navy Achievement Medal wnth Combat V , and nu- merous service and campaign ribbons. Captain Gilbert is married to the former Carol Fenton of San Diego, Califomia. They have three children: Zachary, Garret and Aaron. Captain Gilbert takes a good look at the coast of Mogadishu, Somalia. HTl-How about a nice patio right here. These UnReps can get awfully long.

MMCM(SW) O.M. BRICE COMMAriD MASTER CHIEF Master Chief Machinist ' s Mate Odis M. Brice, Jr. entered the navy in July of 1970, completed Recruit Training in San Diego and entered the engineering field. Me was as- signed to the Engineering Department onboard USS KITTY HAWK (CVA 63) until November 1974. Me attended Air Conditioning and Refrigeration School in San Diego and then completed a tour aboard Destroyer Tender USS BRYCE CANYOM (AD 36) homeported at Peari Harbor, Ha- waii. As a First Class Petty Officer he transferred back to San Diego to complete a tour as a Refrigeration Mechanic and LPO onboard the USS ALAMO (LSD 33). He served ashore as a Station Keeper and Training Coordinator for the Na- val Reserve Center in Lubbock, Texas. After being advanced to Chief Petty Officer in April 1980 he retumed to the fleet in San Diego onboard USS DOWnES (FF 1070) as LCPO of Machinery Division. After a short break in service from August 1982 to March 1984, he retumed to the Fiavy as a rSAVET Veteran. He was then assigned to the Repair Department onboard USS ACADIA (AD 42) until November 1986 when he retumed to the En- gineering Department for the duration of his tour at sea. While his second shore tour lasted just over two years, he worked as a Building Inspector, a Drug and Alcohol Advisor, as well as Command Master Chief at the Naval Training Station, San Diego.
