Thus begins another of the weekly radio broadcasts by a group of speech students at Den- ton High School. With the cooperation of Station KDNT, Denton High speech direc- tor Mrs. Venson Hall has estab- lished as a part of the varied speech program in the school a laboratory course in radio drama production. She is aided by stu- dent teachers from NTSC who find in this work a valuable training period in their preparation for teaching. The primary aims of this course are not to prepare students for professional lives in radio, but rather to give them training in acting, directing, writing and pro- duction. We also hope to develop an appreciation of radio and tele- vision in the students and sharpen their sense of critical evaluation. This fall when high school stu- dents moved into their new build- ing the radio class, like every- one else, had vastly improved quarters over last year. While the speech laboratory was designed to suit the needs of all the speech ac- tivities in the cirriculum, there are excellent facilities for teach- ing a radio class.
