To Carolyn, Carol, Beverly, Dale and Edwin all my good times at D.H.S- I, Harold Polen will to Sigel Stocker my false teeth to stick out in English Class. To Mr. Morrison my many years of seniority at good old D.H.S. To anyone my good times and loud voice for basketball games. CLASS HI S TORY Looking back from l949, we will stop at the school year of 1945-46. The class we are interested in is the Freshman class. It was a class of sixty pupils, among whom some participated in most of the activities off- ered. We recall now that in that year we had one letter- men on the football squad--Don Postel who we lost to Uncle Sam. Our Freshman year we chose Janice Clantz for atten- dent to the Homecoming Queen. The high light of this year was the Freshman-Soph- more Prom. During our Freshman year we lost a beloved class- mate, Nancy Lang, whom we shall never forget. One year later--Spohmore Class. We have decreased to forty-five. Though we are fewer we are none the less active. Joan Nalley was the Sophmore attendent to the Home- coming Queen. Nancy Finnicum was crowned Queen of the Freshman- Sophmore Prom with Joan Nalley and Janice Clantz as attendents. Now we are Juniors with only thirty-five members. The main event of the year was the Junior-Senior Prom. Officers of our Junior Class were: Chris Saggio, Presidentg Jim Shepherd, Vice-Presidentg and Bill Val- intine, Secretary-Treasure. Under the supervision of Miss Irma George, the Jun- iors presented a play, Read Made Family. Janice Clantz was the Junior attendent to the Home- coming Queen. Uncle Sam took five of our boys this year. At last, our Senior year! But now there are only thirty-eight of us left. We had a successful football season winning the Class B Championship. But better than that, we won the game with Uhrichsville. The score was 19-O. A great deal of credit is given to the new coach, Mr. Allen. At the Homecoming Game with Carrollton, Doris Park- er was Crowned Queen. Darlene Blake served as Senior attendent. At this time eight of the Senior girls were presented yellow pom-poms for their services in the band. They were: Margie Bache, Arlene Gold, Donna Polen, Mary McCluskey, Marilyn Rizor, Lillian Sikora, Edythe Sterling, and Barbara Wise. Dick Mice, Class President, with the help of the others, raised money to take a trip. The other officers were: Jim Shepherd, Vice-Presidentg Carl Case, Secretary-Trea- sure. The Seniors worked hard on the year book, especially Donna Polen who was editor, they presented their Senior Play, and then took part in the usual graduation proce- edings. All these--Class Day, Baccalauereate, and Commence- ment climaxed a very successful four years and we all sin- cerely hope that the many years to come will be as suc- cessful. 26
