It did not take us long to make a selection. We picked a fellow who has been a friend and pleasure to us all. So to you, John Harmon, goes our yearbook. We won't forget you. 5 SIGNAL STAFF Barbara Wise, Arlene Gold, Lillian Sikora, Joan Behling, Lorene Fisher, Jim Shepherd. First Row: Janice Witting, Donna Polen, Marilyn Rizor Nancy Finnicum. Second Bow: Third Row: Margie Baohe, Harold Polen, Carl Case, Dic Mico. A The Signal Staff, though it was small, did a swell job on the Annual. It was a hard job because, as usual, the majority of the work was left until the end. In the end, though, the Signal was appreciated by everyone. 4 ! k V W Q '55 fr :A I ff. A , .2 if. . This is Jim Shepherd coming to you over Station DHS in Dennison, Ohio. Yes, this is a great day. It is the day of the 45rd annual football game between Dennison and Uhrichsville. This game has come to be an event of nation wide interest. Naturally, on a great day such as this, we have a great many celebreties among us, whom I will introduce to you during the course of the game. The Dennison team this year has a new coach. He is none other than Don Wright, an alumnus of Dennison High School. Don has been doing a splendid Job this year so we have great hopes for the team. We have several visiting bands here this year. A- mong them is the Ohio-All-Girl Band with Marilyn Rizor as head majorette. The Dennison Band this year is directed by Edythe Sterling. Zoom! There are a couple of planes buzzing and cir- cling the stadium. These planes are piloted by Harold Polen and Bill Valentine, also alumni of Dennison. This is really the game of the year and anything might happen so all preparations are on hand. The ambu- lance is at the end of the field and Dr. Carl Case has his three nurses, Marjorie Bache, Mrs. Donna Polen Zay, and Mrs. Joanne Behling Heddleston. No one is going to go hungry at this game--no sir, not with Dick Mico and his atomic pop corn machines on h and. However, he will have a little competition from the Branch Pretzel Stand which belongs to Bonnie Branch. We have some very busy news reporters pushing away at their pencils. There is Lillian Sikora, reporter for the Dennison Gazette, the newspaper that is published every morning and evening and owned by Mary McCluskey. Coming up to the broadcasting booth are two former Dennison Football stars, Jack Aldergate and 'Chris' Sag- gio. Jack and 'Chris' are now playing with the Cleveland Browns. Incidentally, referees for this game are Sam Fausto and Walter Eberly. ' Now, before this exciting game begins, I have been asked to extend thanks to the following individuals and organizations for their help and patronage given the teamg The George Case Trucking Co., The Wise-Gold School of Singing, Cthis school is operated by Barbara Wise Plotts and Arlene Gold Hodkinsonl The Weaver Beauty Salon. We interrupt you now to hear a few words from radio comedienne Janice Witting Cable, and her bookkeeper and moneykeeper, Janice Clantz Riley and Janice Reiser. Oh, you say you must go because you are having a hen session with Darleen Blake and Barbara Trimmer. 0.K. These two, being telephone operators, would naturally have a lot to say. Also, ladies and gentlemen, after the game there are a variety of eating places, for instance, the Peter Paul, owned by Jim Spinell, the Parker House of Fine Foods, owned by Doris Parker, the Finnicum-Fisher French Fry Spot and Gent111n1's Spaghetti House. You can't go wrong by any of them folks. 22 PROPHECY CONTINUED Now to continue with our thanks to the Davidson- Callihan Employment Agency, the Lukens-Malterer Insurence Co. and last but not least the Fetter's Frilly Fussy Dress Shop. And now to get on with this game--the teams are lined up and there goes the gun--the the electricity! The class we are interested in is the Freshman class. It was a class of sixty pupils, among whom some participated in most of the activities off- ered. We recall now that in that year we had one letter- men on the football squad--Don Postel who we lost to Uncle Sam. Our Freshman year we chose Janice Clantz for atten- dent to the Homecoming Queen. The high light of this year was the Freshman-Soph- more Prom. During our Freshman year we lost a beloved class- mate, Nancy Lang, whom we shall never forget. One year later--Spohmore Class. We have decreased to forty-five. Though we are fewer we are none the less active. Joan Nalley was the Sophmore attendent to the Home- coming Queen. Nancy Finnicum was crowned Queen of the Freshman- Sophmore Prom with Joan Nalley and Janice Clantz as attendents. Now we are Juniors with only thirty-five members. The main event of the year was the Junior-Senior Prom. Officers of our Junior Class were: Chris Saggio, Presidentg Jim Shepherd, Vice-Presidentg and Bill Val- intine, Secretary-Treasure. Under the supervision of Miss Irma George, the Jun- iors presented a play, Read Made Family. Janice Clantz was the Junior attendent to the Home- coming Queen. Uncle Sam took five of our boys this year. At last, our Senior year! But now there are only thirty-eight of us left. We had a successful football season winning the Class B Championship. But better than that, we won the game with Uhrichsville. The score was 19-O. A great deal of credit is given to the new coach, Mr. Allen. At the Homecoming Game with Carrollton, Doris Park- er was Crowned Queen. Darlene Blake served as Senior attendent. At this time eight of the Senior girls were presented yellow pom-poms for their services in the band. They were: Margie Bache, Arlene Gold, Donna Polen, Mary McCluskey, Marilyn Rizor, Lillian Sikora, Edythe Sterling, and Barbara Wise. Dick Mice, Class President, with the help of the others, raised money to take a trip. The other officers were: Jim Shepherd, Vice-Presidentg Carl Case, Secretary-Trea- sure. The Seniors worked hard on the year book, especially Donna Polen who was editor, they presented their Senior Play, and then took part in the usual graduation proce- edings. All these--Class Day, Baccalauereate, and Commence- ment climaxed a very successful four years and we all sin- cerely hope that the many years to come will be as suc- cessful. 26 ,L y.f 4-awww, ZQQW Derlene Blake Evelyn Fox Senior Attendant Junior Attendent -QP' ,k,M?igi,, L .. As members of the class, you can recall most of the things we did when we were Freshman, so we aren't going to mention anything right now about our first year at D.H.S. except that we were hopeful future graduates of Dennison High School. Many o our class mates participated in most of the social activities of the school, such as football, basket- ball, track, band, Hi-Teen, G.A.A., National Honor So- ciety, Den-H1 Staff which quite a 50 few Juniors belong.
