They work out every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday under the advisership of Mr. Waldemar Johnson. The Read- ers' Club experienced an interesting and eventful year. With Miss Lenore Snodgrass, adviser, and Ellsworth Johnson, president, the group played charades and had many lively discussions about books. The Red Cross group here at Denfeld has had cz constructive year in doing services for others. They made placemats, table decorations, and scrapbooks, which were sent to hos- pitals and such places. Marilyn Nelson is the head of the group, and Miss Bernetta Seipel, the adviser. 29

A new speed graphic, a darkroom and all that goes with it have made the Camera Club one of Denteld's most useful organizations. The camera may be used by any group in school, but the pictures must be taken by a club member. Ken Moran, Clarence Trushenski, and Mr. Henry Rood, adviser, have spent many hours on photography, for both Oracle and Criterion have made good use of the camera. The Chess enthusiasts met on Thursdays and under the tutelage of Mr. Ulrik Reque, learned through experience to play a better game. The Hi-Y has been headed for the past year by Merton Olson. The club's adviser is Mr. Henry Rood. The club played its traditional basketball game against the faculty on January 26. Unfortunately they were unable to overcome the fast-stepping faculty. The Hi-Y had a Fun nite and splash parties. CAMERA CLUB Hi-Y 28 f 1 l K , 5. QA. Q' 4 O , sun' CHESS CLUB CAMERA CLUB: Lilli Larsen, Bill Lund- gren, Roger Morris. They do many things to help the office secre- taries. The art cadets are the right hand of Mrs. Genevieve Eby. The fact that they are aiding someone else and learning how to do something constructive is helping these students to become better citizens of tomor- row. When the door of your class room is opened with a swish and the pink and blue cards are pulled out of the holder, you know that one of Miss Ethelyn Gruetzmacher's cadets has iust picked up the attendance cards of those who are absent.
