Allen Fields is an expert in budding pecan trees, a very specialized, and well-paying work. The wood shop, for so long the private domain of male students, has been opened to girls too and several, like the boys, have been working on projects. 2. Johnny Baeza lists woodworking as his hobby. Here in wood shop he has a chance to pursue that hobby and get credit for it at the same time. 3. An expert welder who got his start in DHS welding classes under Edward Chaires. Homero Saenz returned to Deming from a high-payingjob during the summer to finish his high school education. 79

He ' s at home playing other musical instruments too. includmg the guitar, mandolin and banjo. A mem- ber of FFA, he plans a career in ranching after a stint at N MSU. 2. He likes to cook. So Robert Parra does what he likes to do at the Desert Inn Dnve Inn. He hopes to study law. plans to attend WNMU, likes to hunt and fish, and yes, to cook the fish he catches and the game he happens to shoot. 81
