During the summer the cheerleaders raised money to go to cheerleading camp at SEMO. The girls had lots of fun. They learned new cheers and they received four blue ribbons and one red ribbon for their performance. Due to weather conditions the annual bonfire was cancelled and it was not rescheduled. This year under Mrs. Horkey's direction the cheerleaders led many pep rallies throughout the basketball season. Pep Club sponsored the Homecoming dance which was held after the game against Kelley on jan. 30. A Varsity Club was formed this year by the ball players. It was sponsored by coach Sikes and coach jackson. Varsity Club raised money throughout the year by selling popcorn, and jewelry and also from the KGMO and faculty game. Coach Sikes felt the reason for their lopsided 1-12 record was lack of exper- ience. The team only had four returning players, one senior and 3 juniors. Others that came out for the season were five freshman and two ju- niors. Top softball honors went to jammie Glorh, who was named MVP and made the All- Confetence softball team. However, during that final year of school, seniors find it very difficult to make that 1st hour class. Only partially awake, he finds himself wandering around the halls with a bunch oflittle midget underclassmen getting in the way. When he finally reaches class, it is only to discover that he's late again. Slowly progressing through the morning, nothing new hap- pens, after all the senior has just about seen it all. A fight in the hall, a fight in the classroom, even a food fight in the cafeteria - it's all old news. Finally it's lunch. Break time - no way, now it's time to work in the senior stand. Twenty minutes later it's back to class. It's most likely that at sometime during the day the senior will have to encounter a know-it-all junior that by mid-semester still hasn't realized that HE isn't the senior. By the end ofthe day, the seniors are all ready to head out. However, for many there is another 2 hours of basketball practice or a club meeting or that after-school job. The seniors day is definitely a busy one. This is not the way EVERY day goes for every senior, but days like this do occur. Even though a senior's day is sometimes hectic or imonotonous, in one way or another they'll all miss high school. .4 , tn 3: ABOVE: After having their group pictures taken, these seniors take time to have another picture taken before 'rushing' back to Government. IH. The show was spun- sored by the Natural History Educational Co. and was presented by Scott Shupe. Seventh and eighth graders were also able to attend this show, 'lhe show was dedicated to generating awareness and concern for nature and wildlife. The demon- stration lPICTl'RIiD BELOW! included a live Monitor Lizard. a Legless Lizard, a Python, as- sorted non-poisonous snakes, and a Copperhead, A few of the elementary students were even brave enough to touch or pick up the reptiles. ivities e '1'rii....r 'ii.tt.,.i.,m .iiiti,ltN. w,..r.ii. ,im i.,ifi,.,rf1r,.-,t.i.irri.t ini Displai ,, . , Fin... This is possible because the ad staff put in many hours during the summer selling ads. Several days different staff members drove around given areas in Chaffee, Capenlackson, Scott City, Oran, and Advance to find businesses that would support the year- book by buying an ad. The section sold seventeen pages full of ads. This came to about 52000. Ad prices were S25 for an Va ofa page, S35 for a Vs, S50 for a vb, and S80 for a full page. The creation of the ads themselves came from information supplied by the business but it was up to a staff member to assemble the information into a creative block of artwork and copy fi-Y' A FULI CHAFFEE Chaffee 887-3541 Morley 262-3503 BANK 0F AUTO ILC?
