, 7 Whats Popular At D.H.S. In 1982 ln a survey taken at the end of the year, two-thirds of the sophomores, juniors, and seniors confessed that they play video games and spend between 31.00 and 35.00 per week on the arcade machines. Of those polled, Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man were the favorites of 661: 331 liked to play Asteroids, Firebird, Galaxian, Donkey Kong, Tempest, and pinball. Comedy and horror movies ranked high in the upper grades. 6070 of the students saw between one and ten movies, while 407, watched more than 10: some saw as many as 25. The favorite flick of the movie-goers was Superman Il, followed by On Golden Pond, with Raiders of the Lost Ark and Stripes tied for third. The French Lieutenant's Woman and Chariots of Fire were the least favorite films. Rock Music was this school's most favorite: country and pop were close behind. Newcomer Rick Springfield was the biggest winner in the favorite solo artist category with Olivia Newton-John's and Pat Benetar's combined scores barely equaling half of his. There were several favorite groups as the close scores indicate. J. Geils Band led the pack with Air Supply, Journey, Go Gos, and The Oak Ridge Boys following close behind. Journey- Escape was the favorite album, Styx- Paradise Theater placed second. The g1akdRidge Boys' Greatest Hits and Air Supply- The One You Love tied for ir . Endless Love was the most popular song of last year. Open Arms came in second, with a three-way tie for third - Bette Davis Eyes, Centerfold, and Here I Am. Students Pick Cheryl Cardboard Cut-outs Movies have Oscars, television has Emmys, and music has Grammys. Well, The Cheryl nominees are all seniors. They are voted on by members of the the Triangle staff has its own award 5 the Cheryl fnamed for the sophomores, junior, and senior classes. The winners will receive no prize beautiful cardboard cut-out that lives in the yearbook rooml. 82 0 New Students Delta Welcomes 1 New Students This year marked the beginning ot the influx ot people coming to Delta for IPP related jobs. Delta High School felt the impact as new students arrived from all over the Western States. Approximately 100 new students registered through- out the year. Although most ot these students came from larger schools many ot them had positive comments about Delta High School. They liked the friendly atmosphere, the clean school and the open campus.
