The Delta High's Marching Band began its season by marching in the 4th of July parade. Training contin- ued even when school started and early morning sessions became common place. The tirst competi- tion was at BYU in October. Delta beat Lehi, a first, by taking third place behind Payson and Springville. The final results of the Davis Cup were disappointing a- ' A 1. During the honors assembly, Mr. Shelley explained the mix-up about the points at Davis Cup. 2. The Symphony Band played a variety of songs at the Christmas concert. 3. At the Millard game the Pep Band worked to boost the spirit. 4. Going off the field is not as easy as it looks. 6. The band showed off its First Place Davis Cup trophy. 7. With a proud and somber demeanor, Kathie Willoughby and Marci Garrett, displayed their concentration during performance. 8. Rick Smith count- ed out the measures until his part. The band marched during a basketball halftime. 9. Skill and discipline were imperative tor the Rifle Corp members. to the band. At first it was announced that Lehi had won. Later on it was revealed that Delta won by five points, and the judges called it a tie giving Delta a trophy. A new group was added to the Colorguard, including the short flags. They took first place at the BYU competition, beating Payson, a 3A school. b.
