C0nClUd1ng wlth another one late ln the p s perlod the Panthers successfully downed the flghtmg Paoma grld team with a 14 0 count under the lxghts 1n the Delta hlgh school stadlum last Friday The only Paoma threat early m the second perlod was stemmed at the 30 yard lme after the Eagles had m nde three SUCCCSSIVG f1rst and tens A larffe crowd wltnessed the game The Delta squad woke from the en sumg battle ln the thud and fourth quarters wlth several dangerous threat uslng effectlve l1ne plunges and numer ous passes whlch worked for many yards The hlghllghts of the game were a 0 yard pass to Gardner Delta end and a 28 yard run by Sayre Hxnds passmg puntmg 1n whlch were lnclud ed the two extra pomts Haley and Woods dld most of the ball carrymg for the Paoma team besldes some good runnmg goal l1ne The second Panther scor1ng thrust came toward the mlddle of the thlrd quarter when McManus smashed the center of the lme dI'1V1l'lU' h1s way for 35 yards to the Indian goal The smgle Montrose touchdown came late m the fourth quarter when Ham mond Montrose quarterback flung a 30 yard pass to Lexcester Montrose end who m turn tossed a lateral to Al len who raced over the goal l1ne for the only Indlan tally The Panther defense work was ve1y commendable and some much lmproved bl0Ck1flg was demonstrated on offense Hmds McManus and Sayre 1n the backfleld and Gardner Bugg Pfelfer Bertrand Glenn Selber and Lawson on the l1ne all turned ln very good games Shea the blockmg back though not a ball carrler played a fme defensive game The Panthers gained 390 yards t 179 for Montrose
