9669 Corby Street Deoville, California August 27, 1971 MR. FLOYD MAURICE BLACK, JR. Hillton Sanitarium San Diego, California Dear Floyd: It probably seems strange to you to be receiving a letter from some one you have never heard of before and you are probably wondering who could be writing this letter to you. Well, Floyd, I will try to explain, and for your sake in the easiest way possible. Things started in this way shortly after we graduated from Del Norte High School your buddy LE ROY DEO uinheritedw around five million dollars. With this he bought many of Crescent City's major businesses and it wasn't long till Skid was the only member of our Chamber of Commerce. It was only natural that he should want the City's name changed to Deoville. Now that I've explained where this letter is from, Ifd better explain why I've written you. , You see, in the last ten years Deoville has grown to be such a metropolis that it was honored by having the World's Fair held here this summer. A few members of our graduating class felt that this was an ideal time for our class reunion, so they contacted all of our old classmates and our reunion was attended by all but three members including you. You would have been surprised to participate in the fair. I certainly enjoyed seeing GENE BURDICK again. He has been flying for United States Airlines and you'll never believe this but LORRAINE SALMON is a stewardess on his plane and during one of their flights to Hawaii they decided to be married in Honolulu. BOB WARDEN is now giving violin lessons here in Deoville. His studio is on Molini Avenue named after CAROL MOLINI, who became a great television star. I patronized the stores of a few of our old classmates. Among these were: COLSON'S Kidney Kitchen, where I had French fried kidneys, WILLIAM'S Weinie Wagon, where Dean himself served me hush puppies, and Shirley's Sea-Sugared Salmon Shop, owned and operated completely by SHIRLEY GARNETT. I stopped in at CARSON'S Cozy Corner to say hello to Milton and who do you think was serving drinks? I always suspected SHARON JOHNSON would end up in a bar. As I left Carsonis, I was approached by a tramp begging for a quarter. I was shocked to discover that it was LEO MARMELEJO. Over a drink I asked Leo what had happened. It seems that Leo had decided to become a plastic surgeon but he wouldn't go to medical school and his practice got him into trouble. His last patient was his third wife, LOUISE LOVELAND. He hasnit operated since. As I figured to leave I left Leo standing on the corner of BRODEHL and BUNDY, named for two great artists, a maroon Buick whizzed across my toes. I recognized the driver as MARJORIE ENOS. I heard Marjorie is selling Buicks these days. It was then, in the interest of education, that I decided to visit the multimillion dollar high school Crain Highv named after its benefactor and President of the board of supervisors, DON CRAIN. My first stop, was the principal's office. There behind the desk I found JERRY KUNDSEN. As I stood amazed, he explained that he was only the janitor and that Mr. Thunen was out to lunch. I inspected the classrooms and among the teachers I found were: GARY SILVA- Chorus, LARRY SMITH-Foods and Physics, MARLENE MAYHEW-I Mrs. Smithl Anatomy, ANN MARTIN-Boys' Gym, PEGGY BRENNER-Auto Mechanics. Oh, Lary Smith told me that now that JOAN MATTSON and RICK HINTZ have twins in high school, Joan is P.T.A. President. Enough for the school. On my way back to the fair as I passed The Club 96 I heard a shrill laughter which I recognized as JEAN QUEEN'S. I looked in and found Jean and SANDRA HARKEMA engaged in a hot game of poker. The stakes were their husbands, JAMES HUND and BOB EVANS, and Jean was losing. Why should they want to lose their husbands? Both men have good jobs in the lingerie department of HJ. C. ROOT'S,' new KJ. C. Penney Store. J. C.'s new

store is located near Fort Dick which has been renamed Fort Crawford after Mayor HANK CRAWFORD. Other stores in Fort Crawford are, PERDEW'S Rubber gfpldlng Co., KAREN JOHNSON'S Meat Market, and JOYCE THURSTON Beauty a on. While I was at the fair I met a few Hollywood celebrities. Among the ones there were BILL Hopalong RICHARDS with his horse Topper and his 5th wife, EMMA GWERDER the fashion designer. Remember Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis? Well, they've been replaced by JIM STANSBERRY and BILL EDMUNDSON. Their latest picture is Comeback Shane. As I said goodbye to Jim and Bill, I heard the master of ceremonies, JERRY JOHNSON, announce that PHIL CROSLEY and JANICE CRITES are Mr. and Mrs. World's Fair of 1971. After they had finished the applause dies down those Chorus cuties, BERNICE MILLER, EVELYN HORN, NADINE LEHMKUHL, and MINA ELLIOT came dancing onto the stage. After they finished their routine a preview of Modern music was given by KATY uThe Cat ROONEY and her crazy croonersg which consisted of Katy, the director, JUDY RONNING, Piano, SONNIE BLACK, Clarinet, SARA KELLY, Saxophone, and CAROLE MCCOLM, Flute. ELSIE MORRIS did their vocals. Suddenly Sheriff HARLEY ROBERTSON stepped out on the stage and announced that there were two murderesses loose in the crowd and for all lonely old men to beware. It seems, two old maids had put arsenic in the punch at the HDI' Club concessions. I have my suspicions about what became of ARLENE SHINKE and MARIE VROOMAN. During the choas I noticed the ceremonies were being televised over KCRE-TV by WARREN GUREING. I bought a hot dog from DAVID GREMBEMER and an ice cream bar from PEARL SAUNDERS before I continued on my way. What really surprised me Floyd, is when I saw NORMAND MARKS pushing a baby buggy. I figured that someday Normand would marry into the Mayer family, but I never expected Emily! I!!! On my way over to the fortune tellers booth I spied NANCY MITOLO with her husband, CHARLES DAME, on her shoulders. The fortune teller had a deep voice and a veil' on Hits facevg unable to control my curiosity I removed the veil and discovered LESTER SCHUMENN. Lester told me that DARRYL CLAGGETT and VIRGINIA TAYLOR finally got married and were both working for the Slover Salomi Company. He also told me how JAY ROBERTS and DON WILSON finally won the Ping Pong finals in Witchipec. DALE LONG is their manager. As I left, I bumped into PAT and CHARLES DUNN crawling around on the ground. They had been hired by JAMES NOEL, oil tycoon, to track down BECKY SOLARI, gun moll, to LARRY GURNEY, California's Political Boss. I turned around and ran into DONNA WARNER and MARIE CRADDICK chasing two little kids. I didn't know the orphanage business was that poor. I decided to get out of the way of all the people but as I walked away I tripped over the dead body of HARVEY HIGHT. An ambulance rushed up and out hopped KENNY HARVILLE and ELDON COWLEY. As they passed I asked Kenny what had happened. It seems that Arlene and Marie were still loose. To calm my'nerves, I took a ride on the roller coaster, which is the largest in here and the world, run by MARION NICHOLS and oiled regularly by JIM EGGEL. This failed to calm my nerves for I sat beside JUNEVA CLANCY. Juneva, I've been told has been riding the roller coaster every day for the past twelve years. She guarantees it as a cure for hangovers. After such a trying experience I decided to look at the educational side of the fair, so I went over to the Science and Art building where I found Professor ANTHONY ROEDER explaining why beer should be sold by the bushel. MORRIS ROBINSON was there too, with his wife PATRICIA MOULTON. Morris was explaining the workings of Billy Veeblefetzer-Type 7-Single Thrott-lever-long elbow. Billy was assisted in this remarkable achievement by the amazing brain of'NATHAN ROBERTS. As I left the Science and Arts building I saw a crowd of people heading for the race track and I flipped a coin, then joined them. In the first race I found RUSSELL UHLER riding Mogen David and BUCK HOLLOWAY riding Shmunofff' The third race looked like a good one so I decided to place a bet -on ELMER a
