The Prize Costume Winners First Prize-Salt, Pepper, and Spice Marks-a-la-mode! ! I l The Mardi Gras, presented by the class of 555 on February 26, 1955, was the first of what is hoped will become an annual affair. Patterned after the Mardi Gras that takes place in New Orleans, our local one proved to be quite a success. ln order to keep every one busy, a number of booths were going on at one time. Some of the more popular were the Penny Pitch, The Basketball Toss, the Dunking Booth, the latter was especially popular when teachers Carlisle, and Cutter were getting dunked. Another great success as a booth was the Elephant the famous Night Club, where soft drinks were served and a floor show entertained many. The highlight of the evening was the auctioning off of several boys in order to throw a pie in their faces.

g v On November 29, 1954, the Senior Class held the first Homecoming, with hope that it would become an annual affair. Each of the four classes elected a Princess and the Senior Princess was to be crowned Homecoming Queen. Patty Spann won the Freshman honors, while Jo-Anne Moore was chosen as Sophomore Princess.
