' The 1980-81 Football season was a bulldlng year for the Tigers. There are many underclassmen on the team, who showed excellence thls season. Steve Hicks moved to Del Norte this year and was named to Second Team Defense as a linebacker. Andrew Archuleta, a sophomore, was also named to the Second Team Defense as a lineman. Gerald Martinez, a junior, was named to the position of defensive back on the First Team. Ben Stuever was selected to be on the Flrst Team Offense, as a lineman. Junior Drew Telnert was elected Most Valuable Player of the San Luis Valley and First Team receiver. Mabelles Slsneros was the only senior named to the Flrst Team Defense as a lineman. To make lt possible for these people to be successful ln their posltlons lt took total cooperation from everybody on the team. We will have about thirty returning players for next year.

TIGER FOOTBALL IS ON THE PROWL This was Coach McRae's first year of coaching at Del Norte. His style of coaching ls new and different. Play- ers reacted with enthusiasm and respect. Coach McRae moved to Del Norte with his wife Kathy and daughter Erica Ann. He coached a state championship team at Merino, and is preparing the TIger's football team for a state championship. 1.
