They were selected because of their dependability, participation in school activities, and leadership. 2: OUTSTANDING 8th GRADERS are Sandy Baca and Marvin Martinez. They were also chosen for their dependability, participation in school activities, and leadership. 3: Robin Black was chosen as the DAR GOOD CITIZEN by the Del Norte High School Faculty. She was selected for the leadership, dependability, patriotism, and service throughout the high school years. Robin and her mother attended a tea given by the local DAR Chapter on February 16. At that time she was presented with a certificate, flag, and a pin. 4: The following students are the TOP IUWU ACADEMICALLY OF THE SENIOR CLASS. IITT I . 2 I 1. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY only had two returning members at the beginning of the year, but that was quickly changed when 12 new members were inducted. One of the newest and most interesting projects done by NHS was an exhibit of each of the senior members, displaying their achievements and awards throughout the years. The pictures, medals, and talents attracted much attention. Not Shown: Mike 1 5 Schrader. 4 gl 2. Larilee Schuman was chosen as this year's SPUD BOWL QUEEN CANDIDATE. She was nominated by the DNHS senior class and then went to Adam State College to be interviewed by a panel of judges. It is possible for each contestant to win a scholarship to ACS, so this nomination is a great honor. 3. NHS OFFICERS: Larilee Schuman, Student Council Alternate: Robin Black, President: Kirk Powell, Vice-President: Laurice Harrison, Treasurer: Holly Fitzloff, Student Council Representative: Konda Tyree, Secretary. 4. GIRLS' AND BOYS' STATE was held during the month of lune, 1979, at CSU. Over 400 students from all parts of Colorado attended the camps. The students were divided into nine different cities and each set up model governments, electing their own mayor, assessors, and other officers. When asked what Iill, Tim, and lim thought of the camp, they said it was a fun, yet an educational experience. Attending were: Tim Iohnson, Iill Downie, and lim Raifsnyder. 20
