Featuring co-captains Bob Dennehy, end, Butch Cottrell, quarterback, and Pete Reynolds, fullback, and all-state selections guard Phil Soule and halfback Mike Simpson, the Rams won 6 games and lost 3. The season opened with a 32-6 conquest of Cheverus and a l3-O win over state king Lewiston. The Purple then dropped a tight decision to South Portland, I8-13 but bounced back to take Edward Little l3-0 and Sanford 25-12 before losing to a strong Thornton eleven by only 6 points. Deering trounced Westbrook and was topped by St. Louis but salvaged a successful season by blasting a 28-13 victory over Portland on Thanksgiving day.
