LOG OF '52 In the fall of 1948, the Senior Class of 1952 entered Deering as Freshmen. Under the guidance of Newton Churchill, as president, Robert Gardiner, vice-president, Rob- ert Huff, secretary, Lawrence Kindbom, treasurer, and the executive committee com- posed of Allen Lewis and Nancy Packard, we held our first social event, the Fresh- man Reception. Our sophomore year was led by Nancy Packard, president, Leanne Hawks, vice- president, Florence Hildreth, secretary, Robert McAfee, treasurer, and the executive committee consisted of Judy Blumanthal, Dennis Dougal, and Thomas Edwards. Dennis Dougal presided our Junior year, with Judy Blumanthal, vice-president, Carole Thompson, secretary, Robert Skillins, treasurer, and Robert McAfee, Leanne Hawks, Peter Peterson, on the executive committee. Through our four years at Deering the class of 1952 was well represented in Deering's sports and activities. Outstanding varsity football players were Peter Peter- son, Charles Kilbride, Allen Lewis, Les Peterson and Johnny Goodie. The baseball diamond was well placed with such stars as Wayne Brown, Robert Gardiner, Freeman Dulac and Dana Levitt. Basketball proved such outstanding players as Bill YVhitmore, Freeman Dulac, Nor- man Bomberry and Lawrence Kindbom. In our four years at Deering, the girls' sports brought home winning teams in field hockey, swimming, basketball, and softball. Playing on these teams were Carol Fletcher, Joan Levine, Carole Thompson, Judy Blumanthal, Mary White, Florence Hil- dreth and Diane Simpson. Our year-book, the Amethyst, consisted of many hard-working classmates. Our Editor, Bruce Henderson, had much needed help from Valerie MclX'lennamin, Ann Crosby, Alvin Morrison, and many others. Seen cheering for Deering at all the games were the cheerleaders, Bruce Hender- son, Dave Webb, Jacquline Halle, Carole Thompson, and Diane Simpson. Editor of our school paper, the Ramblings, was hard-working Louise Young. Our senior year and final year at Deering saw Allen Lewis elected president, Nancy Hubbard, vice-president, Mary White, secretary, and Robert Gardiner, Leanne Hawks, and Peter Peterson on the executive committee. As we leave the halls of Deering on graduation day, every individual classmate will always remember the good times we have had during our four wonderful years at the school. We extend to our teachers our appreciation for all their help, and to our adviser, Mr. Smith, for his understanding and co-operation. Respectfully submitted Mary White, Secretary 21
