All of the sports, activities, GUIDES STUDENT BODY and facilities fall under his jurisdiction. Ms. Barbara Daggett, assistant principal! attendence is our first women administrator. She has novv finally accomplished her long sought after goal, while still maintaining her first love- teaching. Although she is an assistant principal, she still handles a homeroom and teaches Student Government and reading classes. Jerry Smith is commented. the new associate lvlr. Smith moved up principal at Deer Valley High School. He describes his position as new and exciting. from assistant principal in charge of athletics and activities. With the help and support of Principal Dr. E. Jim Smith, this year promised to be one of the best possible and the experience and cooperation of the teachers, faculty, and student body made this year truly spectacular. I enjoy working with our students and the variety of responsibilities associated with the position. A positive atmosphere exists at Deer Valley which makes spending one third of your life here enjoyable and exciting. Smith 235 DR. SMITH LEADS UNIFIED TEAM his year Dr. E. Jim Smith became Deer Valley's third principal. This enabled him to become more involved in helping students and teachers with their problems. Overall, my first semester as principal of DVHS has been very rewarding. Almost without fail students, staff, and parents have responded when asked to assist in making improvements in the campus. l'm looking forward to continued unified effort in making i DVHS the best . possible high school. commented Dr. Smith. Dr. Smith replaced last year's Principal Robert ' J. Sauter who left last June to take a job as I director of curriculum in the district office.
