Enthusiasm arouses spirit he Wrestlerettes consisted of 30 girls this year. Their president, Cheryl Davis, worked hard to keep the Wrestlerettes going. The other officers are Varsity captain, Yolanda Vegasg Junior Varsity captain, Dyan Dezurikg and Score captain, Rosie Martinez. The Wrestlerettes have been very successful this year, stated sponsor Mrs. Jan Showers. Besides creating their own cheers, they were the instructors at a clinic of approximately 250 girls. The wrestlers and coaches appreciate their support. The wrestlers and coaches appreciate having the Wrestlerettes because they help to motivate the team and increase their ' morale, said Mrs. Showers. Mrs. Showers became their sponsor in order for the school to have Wrestlerettes. She also explained, l wanted to develop the Wrestlerettes into a more positive and unitied group of students. The Wrestlerettes continued their support last December. Along with the wrestlers, they traveled to Las Vegas to cheer the team on in tournament between top schools from Arizona, California, and Nevada. . . .they help to motivate the team. . . Trying to beat the ball to second base is senior Jody Nelson VA SITY S FT ALL PRACTICE MAKES TEAM iivipnove stef-xoitv his year's varsity softball team consisted of fourteen players. They practiced about two or three times a week, with each practice lasting approximately two and a half hours. The team improved steadily from the beginning of the season. Coach Marchese said, The team was extremely successful because they came together and played as a team even though there were many different personalities. Two of their most outstanding players were senior, Cori Darnell and junior, Stacey Frate. Cori was an excellent first baseman who saved many bad throws and turned them into outs, Coach lvlarchese explained. She was also one of the team's best hitters. Stacey was the team's number one pitcher. We broke two school records by pitching the most strikeouts this season and having the most innings pitched. Stacey also won two games by hitting homeruns.
