DOMINANCE wAs THE KEY t takes a lot of determination, speed, agility, and practice to become a successful varsity wrestler. The practices consist of take downs, which is when members of the team wrestle each other, tumbling, lifting weights and coordination exercises. The season has been pretty good according to Coach Flynt Swerdfeger. Winning the Chapparal invitational against 16 schools from This team has the greatest po- tential of any other team we've had at Deer Valley. Coach Flint Swerdfeger Arizona, California and Nevada furthered the team's successful season. The best wrestlers this season were Sal Abbate, with an 18-O-1 record, Kirk Whittenburger, 17-2-O, Shawn Edwards, 12-2, and Steve Petty 15- 4. Both Sal and Shawn won the Chapparal invitational for their weight class.
