An outstanding civics teacher, Mr. McGuire is liked and respected by the entire student body. The 1965-1966 sports season would never have been the same without the care- ful planning and programming of our Athletic Director. No one person has done more to boost school spirit. His enthusiasm is unending, his loyalty, unbounded. Because of his keen interest, our successes surpassed even our expectations. That is why we, the Class of 1966, are happy to bestow the honor of this dedication of Reflerfiom 1966 on Mr. Lofts McGuire. ' , ,t 25 ' ' , . - - -qc ,f rw. The success of our senior year may be attributed in large part to the quiet efficiency of our advisor, whose wit and under- standing levelled the seemingly unsurmountable crises of our prom, play, and banquet. Never could the Class have prospered without his guidance. For this, Mr. Toomey, we are grateful. 'lt LLIIQ On-the-spot impartial reporting at faculty game. This year, as always, the Cheerleaders gave their faithful support to our athletic teams. Their spirit was undying, and they cheered the Crimson and Gray with much enthusiasm-whether to victory or defeat, they always did their best! Led by Sandy Hillegas, this year's squad was composed of nine seniors and only three juniors. After many hours of practicing, they demonstrated their talents at all football, basketball, and hockey games. What would DHS do without these girls to keep the school spirit at its best? Under the direction of Miss jane Hyde, they organized the Cheer Club which helped to cheer our hockey team onto the Tourney. 1 ll i. dp. jd TWIRLING I . x i-NXJ2 KATHY MAYALL SALLY IADONISI JANET FLEMING M -X ANDREA DINNEEN 1 STRUTTERS lr Mary OHara, Joanne O'Brien, Sally Iadonisi, Evelyn Lacquidara, Janet MacRae Kathy Cobb Jo Ann Johnstone Sheryl McK1llop Andrea Dinneen, Jackie Johnson, Kathy Mayall Kneeling: Judy Garliclc Captain Sealed Debbie Stixaletta TAKE THIRD AT CCJMPETITION With plumes waving, batons sparkling, and whistles blowing, our majorettes were a color- ful addition to our band at all DHS football games. Such perfection didn't come easily, and under the leadership of Judy Garlick, our vi- vacious Head Majorette, the girls spent long hours through the summer and fall months prac- ticing their routines. At the close of the football season, the up- coming Bay State Competition was the next event on the girl's schedule. The highlight of their performance is the annual Christmas Assembly sponsored by the choir to- gether with its compatriot groups, the Crimsonaires and the Crimsonettes. Mr. john Faucett, our new cho- ral director, has done much to give our singing groups a more significant part in Dedham High activities. From arduous weekly re- hearsals, to performances in music festivals, the choir has always been a credit to our school. CRIMSONAIRES The Crimsonaires is our strictly male choral group which was formed just this year. As a result of Mr. john Faucett's fine job of recruit- ing, almost thirty boys are now active members of this talented young group. Seven qualified students were chosen to deliver their prize-winning essays before the Legion and the school. Under Mr. Thomas Yonkers guidance, the students again demonstrated their pride in their country, their school, and in them- selves. REPRESENTING DEDHAM . . . BOY AND GIRL STATERS During the summer of '65 four care- fully selected students made the annual trip to represent DHS at Boys' and Girls' State. Chris Healey, Kevin Hunt, and John Ros- ado, our Boys' State representatives, spent a memorable and very profitable week at the University of Massachusetts. Christine Celata, who represented us at Girls: State, had a very interesting and rewarding week at State College in Bridgewater. By attend- ing lectures, taking part in elections, and actually holding office, all four learned much about how our State Government 1 3. W is run. Sandy in Wonderland OUR WINTER WONDEF 4 ' 'rffffywnvww From the receiving line to the parties at dawn, December 10, 1966, was truly a magical evening. Our cafeteria had been transformed into a Winter Wonderland where sleigh bells tinklecl and Frosty the Snow Man was the understanding chaper- one. Partners glided by under sparkling snow- flakes, or whispered in the shadows of tinseled Christmas trees. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the Queen and her court. With so many starry-eyed beauties, this proved a difficult task, but Sandy Butler was the lucky girl to reign over this world of ice and snow. In years to come DHS seniors of the class of '66 will still dream of their prom and the en- chantment that lasted close to forever. , 5 I, ' vp., 61 ff ' O 'R f x- V' J i -'- .4 J Q 'J H 2, ,, Could this 2 fo ' 'K Q 4 . This year following a tradition set up several balls ago, the West- wood High Dance Band enchanted us with their music. The theme this year was Cupid's Haven and in this magic world, which Pam Knight and her decorating committee so artistically created, Cupid certainly was the King. His Queen was delightfully enchanting Shirley La Fay and Chris Healey, the band president, crowned her with pride. The arrows of those devilish cupids on their carousel horses must have hit their marks, for all the DHS sweethearts went home with stars in their eyes. ...teafortwo... To open the program, Lieutenant Sieglaff, the director, conducted several concert pieces. Next, Ensign Muffley stepped in as MC and the fun began. The band switched to popular music, featuring various sections and individuals. One of the memor- able numbers was Hello Dolly , directed to Sandy Hillegas. From classical, to popular, to jazz, and then to traditional Navy songs, the band won the hearts of DHS students, who began begging at once for a repeat performance. 9 r .
