ESSENTIAL T0 OUR SUCCESS VICE PRINCIPAL Theres hardly any goal in this world which you, as a rational human being, desire to ac- complish that is not possible of fulfillment- if, you really want to attain it enough. Every difficult problem is easy to solve when you know how. Education has provided you witl' this 'Lknow-how. It is the tool, which if you have learned to value, you must keep sharpened for the rest of your life. ' 6JsZQ,Q!:L, SUPERINTENDENT Members of the Class of 1963: For several years there has been an emphasis on quality education in the public schools throughout this country. I know from experience that this historic town has made it possible to provide quality education for the students of Dedham High School through a superior school plant, generous finances, and an excellent school faculty. For the past three years your teachers, department heads, and principal have en- couraged you to achieve to the limits of your abilities and have endeavored to motivate in you the desire and continuous drive to excel- foundation blocks for quality education in any successful student's life. Whether you go on for higher education, serve your country in one of the armed forces, or enter the business world directly upon grad- uation, try to keep before you the high standards and ideals of Dedham High School. If you make these your life objectives, you cannot help achieving success in life and making a valuable contribution to the community in which you reside. I have pleasant memories of association with your class for nearly two years as your High School principal prior to assuming my present position. ADMINISTRATIVE CFFICERS .xxx ll' i To the Members of the Class of 1963 Dedham High School Dedham, Klassachusetts Dear Friends: It is not my purpose to give you advice on what the future holds for you. Nor shall I call attention to the fact that ,graduation exercises are the cere- monies which close twelve years of education as prescribed by your School Board. This final year at Dedham High School has a deeper meaning than that. Its key is the word, 'geducationfi When we think of education, we should think first of the student learning, and not of the school or of the teacher. The major purpose of our school, the materials, and the teachers is to encourage and to motivate each student in his learning. Whatever can be done to stimulate learning belongs in this school and anything which obstruets individual learning does not belong in this school. I'Iowcvcr, this learning or education does not stop upon graduation: it is a life process. The experiences which you undergo, the experiences which you make a part of you, make you a different person from your classmate, and truly educate you. Education, then, is a process that goes on for the remainder of your lives. Dedham High School, its personnel, its faculty wish for you future experience that will bring you happiness throughout your life. We hope that we have played a part in guiding your experiences to fulfill your goals, and that that which is good will be the key to those goals. in the members of the Class of 1963 a willingness to work for to cooperate for its good. These factors brought joy to me as and I extend to you my thanks for the good name you have School, and I hope that your future will be a rewarding one.
