Tops as a teacher, Miss Boynton will be remembered for her enthusiasm and skill in advising the Student Council and for her amusing anecdotes from her European trip. Anyone for hockey ? Mr. DeSalvo, a native Dedhamite, kept his classes lively while teaching the fundamentals of French. Horticulture, hunting, fishing, the Lawrence Welk show, coaching the D.I-I.S. hockey team-shall we go on? -keep him busy. Junior Red Cross meeting this week. Miss Castle, j.R.C. advisor, guidance worker, and Latin teacher, was a frequent chaperone at our dances. Teaching English at night school is one of her pastimes. She enjoys good music, garden- ing, and sewing. Bueno, para manana always brought attention and perhaps a few groans from Mrs. O'Brien's students. Mrs. O'Brien enjoys reading, swimming, skating, travel, Kes MISS CATHERINE CASTLE and, of course, her Spanish Club. and Conversetl With Wit 'VP 'N...,...f 4 Miss DORIS GRANT MR. GERARD HOWLEMAN Miss Grant . . . Really put yourself into your part! encouraged the devoted coach of our senior play. As sophomores, we studied English under her guidance. The theatre, reading, interior decorating, and auctions are her first loves. Mr. Hottleman . . . Look out for that tree! frequently shouted our driving instructor and English teacher. His pupils thankfully agree that he has no nerves. After school hours he may be seen coaching the baseball team or perhaps uroughing it up with his two sons. Miss Murdock . . . Watch it there! These words of warning had a quieting effect on the classes taught by this gracious English teacher who patiently helped us to cope with the intricacies of grammar. Miss Murdock takes pleasure in traveling, reading, lectures, theatre, To Tell the Truib, and in general just being with people. Miss Guell is not only a competent English-teacher, but also an avid sports enthusiast and frequent spectator at D.H.S. games. Her outside interests are arts and crafts and Irish drama. Mr. Philbrick joined us in the middle of senior year. In his soft-spoken and efficient manner he assumed control of his class and Won Our HClI11ifHli0I1. Ancients and Modems Told Us Their Secrets MR. THOMAS YONKER MRS. MARIE SCHUTZE MR. JOSEPH BELL Mr. Yonker . . . Tickets for the game will be on sale . . . Our faithful football rooter, head of the history department, and faculty advisor of athletics teaches civics, current affairs, and early European history. When not in school he indulges in photography, good music, and plays. Mrs. Schutze . . . Four score and seven years ago . . . So spoke one of our favorite history teachers. She catches up on her gardening, semi-classical music, reading, and knitting during vacations. Mr. Bell made modern history enjoyable and was an expert at joking with a perfectly straight face. He enjoys swimming, sailing, tennis, biography, and good music. Mr. McGuire, an alumnus of D.H.S. and our track coach, faithfully attended our class meetings. He likes to go golfing, fishing, hunting, and is an avid Celtics fan. Mr. Smith can be found on the golf links any Saturday morning. Besides golf he enjoys swimming and reading. In his many years at D.H.S., he has led history discussions that will long be remembered. Miss Sheedy demonstrated her versatility this year by transferring from the science de- partment to the history department. She is an outstanding teacher of United States and Modern European history. On week-ends she .manages to do quite a bit of reading and travelling. Mr. Cawley . . . Right . . . taught us the historical data of now and then, His chief interests are his hi-fi, classical records, Civil War stories, and the Edward R. Murrow program. MR. JAMES SMITH ia W ,am MR.
