and Conversetl With Wit 'VP 'N...,...f 4 Miss DORIS GRANT MR. GERARD HOWLEMAN Miss Grant . . . Really put yourself into your part! encouraged the devoted coach of our senior play. As sophomores, we studied English under her guidance. The theatre, reading, interior decorating, and auctions are her first loves. Mr. Hottleman . . . Look out for that tree! frequently shouted our driving instructor and English teacher. His pupils thankfully agree that he has no nerves. After school hours he may be seen coaching the baseball team or perhaps uroughing it up with his two sons. Miss Murdock . . . Watch it there! These words of warning had a quieting effect on the classes taught by this gracious English teacher who patiently helped us to cope with the intricacies of grammar. Miss Murdock takes pleasure in traveling, reading, lectures, theatre, To Tell the Truib, and in general just being with people. Miss Guell is not only a competent English-teacher, but also an avid sports enthusiast and frequent spectator at D.H.S. games. Her outside interests are arts and crafts and Irish drama. Mr. Philbrick joined us in the middle of senior year. In his soft-spoken and efficient manner he assumed control of his class and Won Our HClI11ifHli0I1. His small car was a favorite topic of conversation. MISS ELIZABETH GUELL 3 ,,,4: N't. 5 MISS FLORENCE MURDOCK MR. ELWOOD PI-IILBRICK if f . 3 W.

We Read With Interest gf MISS DOROTHY KENDALL MISS RUTH BAKER xi Q , 1 f MR. ARTHUR BARKER Miss Kendall, head of the English department, introduced us to the literary masters of our language. Her outside interests include FM radio, detective stories, and dancing. We appreciated her help in preparing for the college boards. Mr. Barker has an unusual talent for mixing fun with learning, While we were laughing at his jokes, we had to. be alert and ready for a sudden off-beat question. To Mr. Barker is due credit for expanding our audio-visual programr Miss Baker succeeded in presenting entertaining as well as informative English classes, She enjoys music and reading, and is a trustee of the Dedham Public Library. In Miss Baker's class, reading Beowulf was almost nice. Miss O'Grady strove to give us an appreciation as well as an understanding of lit- erature. She was unfailingly patient and understanding as advisor to the Mirror and Reflerliom. Golf, reading, theatre, and the Alfred Hitchcock show claim her attention away from school. Mrs. Downes, our reading instructor, joined us in senior year. Included among her various interests are sports and sewing, Our thanks to Mrs. Downs for helping so many of us to increase our reading capabilities. MISS MARGUERITE O'GRADY MRS.
