In 1936 or 1937 the 164 members of the Class of 1954-crying, coo- ing, bawling, sleeping, and even then demanding their meals on time- came into this world. Those were grim years-the Depression Was still dreadful, civil War had broken out in Spain, and the Yankees were in the middle of winning four straight world series-but they didn't bother us. Unaware of what lay ahead of us, we put on our sun suits, grasped our fuzzy dogs, and mounted our trusty Velocipedes.
