Holly Price donates a can to the Student Coun- cil sponsored Food Drive. C. The Seniors helped make the Food Drive suc- cessful by con- tributing a large share of the cans. The Student Council is responsible for many activities at D.H.S. They plan and monitor the Food Drive, the Powder-Puff football game, the volleyball tournament, Eagle Olympics, and the Bonfire. New members were inducted on Monday, December 1, and all members meet on the first Tuesday of each month. The in- duction took place in the gymnasium with a candlelight ceremony which parents and friends were invited to attend. Members are required to do a group service project and an individual service project. The NHS also sponsors the Faculty-Senior Volleyball game each year. Mary Nell Fortenberry tpictured top rightJ sponsors the National Honor Society in addi- tion to her many other responsibilities such as Librarian and Financial Advisor for the year- book. Ms. Fortenberry graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science and Masters degree in Education. Ms. Fortenberry has been in education for 24 years, with 23 years being served at Decatur High School. When asked how she liked Decatur she replied, I like the students, the staff, and the town. The size of our school is just right. The 1986-87 Yearbook Staff would like to thank Ms. Fortenberry for keeping up with the financial records.

L.LLL Qi? li 'KLK A if Fl-lA'ers Gain lixnerience The B.S. and M.A. that Dena Silvers received from North Texas State University has helped her in teachin Home Economics, Home and Family Living, and Consumer Esucation. During her twelfth year at Decatur, Mrs. Silvers helped to sponsor the junior class and the FHA club. The Future Homemakers of America QFHAJ club had a busy year. One of the Club's many projects was a canned food drive at Christmas. The canned foods were distributed to the needy throu hout Decatur. As the annual fund raiser, some club members and their friends wrap ed Christmas presents for Poco Graphite after school. Those who participated were: julie Perkins, Carrie Doss, julie Waller, Thea Woodruff, Crista Campbell, Monty Neighbors, Melissa Barton, and Traci Newcomb.
