The physical education department, required in all three years of high school under the new cur- riculum, helps develop these healthy bodies. Boys' and girls' gym and swimming classes compose the program. Driver education is now required of all students in Michigan. Dearborn High, combining class work with practical road work, trains its students to be capable drivers, so they may add to the safety of Michigan's highways. Health, Iron Out Problems lanning schedules, discussing personal problems with students, teaching group guidance, securing college, vocational and scholarship information-all are part of a counselor's day. Spec- ial training and tive years of teaching, as well as a degree in the field of education with a major in guidance, are required before one can become a counselor. Mrs. Joan Ewing, school nurse, is a registered nurse with a bachelor of science in nursing and a certificate in public health. Her many duties include everything from informing and counseling students with health problems to using first aid and sponsoring the Future Nurses Club. She performs her duties at Adams Junior High two days each week.
