Sponsored by the “Youth for Un- derstanding” program, two foreign students attended De Smet High School. Maria Salas from Mexico and Antti Leskinen from Finland joined the Senior class in the fall. Maria made her home with Rever- end and Mrs. Carl Evans. Her favorite class was office practice and her plans include getting a job as a secretary and learning to speak English better. Antti attended school in Helsinki, Finland before he came to De Smet to live with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Stewart. While in the United States. Antti ac- quired many favorites. His philosophy of life is, “The end of the world can’t come today because somewhere in the world it’s morning.” Antti participated in “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” 27 School Life TERM PAPERS AND TESTS A WHISPER IN STUDY HALL ASSEMBLIES AND AWARDS LAUGHTER AND LEARNING A MUSICAL NOTE GRADES AND GRADUATION 28 OUR SCHOOL YEAR HOMECOMING 1974-75 Dave and Melanie Vicki and Jody Susan and Bob Brad and Susan 30 After many Student Council meetings, the plan for Homecoming was finally decided upon. The last game of the season was with the Clear Lake Cardinards. It was a scoreless first-half, but the Bulldogs tallied once in each period during the second half to make the final score: Bulldogs 14 and the Cardinards 31. Coach Bob Sprang praised the defensive work of Dave Cronkhite and Joh Hof. All in all, it was a good season. Good work boys! ‘That one is kind of cute.' Rip the shirt, how cliche! “Hey, I’m over here! 1 Do you know what those Home Ec. boys told me today? I can hear the ocean. He can’t do that in this school! and after! You look fine to me. Before . I can't take my mind off that game last night. Give it here. I’m taller than you. Aetion Plus Though the wrestling season for the Bulldogs was not spec- tacular, it was nevertheless, a learning and a very beneficial one. Many wrestlers, mostly un- derclassmen, saw extended wres- tling time on the mat and now will be ready for the next sea- son. Senior Brad Albrecht, tied for the most pins with 5, and had the most takedowns-13. Even though our record was not outstanding, the determina- tion of the boys, the confidence of the coaches, spirit from the cheerleaders and the backing of the students and the school made the first year of wrestling at D.S.H.S. a very rewarding ex- perience for everyone. Bob Pratt Student Council Color: Rainbow Flower: Daisy Cindy Logan Vice President tr With a superior attitude and confident air, 55 Seniors bombarded the classrooms of DSHS. More than one teacher groaned as compact conditions cried for a breath of air. Undaunted, they blazed through the year with tireless energy and enthusiasm. The size in number seemed only to unite this class of ’75, as they launch into one activity after another. We can only hope that though time quickly changes things, it will never cause them to lose their con- fidence in success or the value they find in the friendships formed by their unity. 70 Neal Martens Jan Cummins Neil Palmlund Lonna Bowes Sandy Palmer Connie Olson Dale Martens Craig Purintun Theresa Hayden 71 David Cronkhitc Mary Jo Robish Barb Lloyd Pam Tingle Jani Wallum Terry Gilbertson Jon Hof Denis Borah Scott Mutschler Cheryl Glazier Brad Jensen Tara Anderson Scott Meyers Carson Aanenson Vicki Slaight Brad Klinkel Bonnie Bitncr Ross Minier Debbie Groncwald Wendy Johnson Gayle Grothc Gary Steen Renate Johnson Myrna Hoek Mary McFerran Elvis Van Dyke Brian Garry 74 Erland Wecrts Debbie Karlen Jerry Rabenberg Marsha Hagel Danita Bohn John Stoddard Mary King Sam Geyer Brad Pratt Roxane Robish Steve Stewart Brad Albrecht Susan Muser 76 A Time of Fulfillment Twelve years of fun and hard work ended on May 22,1975 when 54 Seniors received their long awaited diplomas, it was marked as a time of sadness and happi- ness. The Seniors knew their contacts with each other would be severed, but they were now ready for the future. These graduates were now entering a new era of life, and they soon realized that it wasn’t actually the end but just the beginning The speakers for the commencement exercises were Susan Lee and Dave Cronkhite. The welcome was given by Melanie Wilkins and Vicki Slaight. Rev. Nel- son Stone gave the Invocation and Benediction. Music was provided by the Chora- leers and a vocal solo by John Stoddard. Time passed through the halls of DHS so silently we failed to notice its omnipresence It gathered the laughs, the tears, the friendships, the headaches and heartaches and wrapped them gently in a package labeled Memories. It passed quietly, and not until we stood as parting Seniors, did we realize and understand. How do we try and te!, them that are yet to come ... how treasured that package is? How important and lasting memories are? But even while we try, time passes swiftly and silently on ... 78 Standard Service Center Cottage Inn Cafe Ketelson-Osthus Funeral Home Cottage Inn Motel Anderson-Stalheim, Inc.
