1974 BULLDOG Let’s Keep in Touch Just to keep in touch with someone and to understand their need. Just to share with them your friendship is a privilege indeed. For life is so much brighter when your joys and cares you share, And burdens seem much lighter when a friend of yours is there. There’s nothing quite so precious on this earth, it seems to me, As the friends who are always loyal, who understand so perfectly. The little deeds of love are the things that give a lift And a friend who’s true, who understands, is surely God’s own gift. A smile, a word of kindness are the things that mean so much ... So take the time to be a friend, and please, let’s keep in touch. Virginia Swan s. His thoughts and actions have gained our respect, and have aided our growth and development as young adults. Upon leaving, we shall not forget this man who touched all our lives in a very special way. We are more than proud to dedicate the “Bulldog” to Mr. Steve Swartos. 3 DEDICATION A TRIBUTE The classes and faculty at DHS wish to express their thanks to a man who has given 24 years of his life to DHS. The mighty Seniors then combined their excellent tastes in color and came up with the com- bination of navy blue and sky blue. To show their love for the beautiful things in life the seniors chose the yellow rose for their flower. As the seniors prepare for the future the best of luck is wished for all of them. Many individual choices have been made by them. Whatever the choice, success is inevitable for the great class of 1974. Kathy Siefeldt Georg Lohmann is from West Ger- many. While in DeSmet he stayed on the Dale Johnson farm. Amelia Granja is from Brazil. While in DeSmet she stayed with the Rev. and Mrs. Evans. 23 Today ... Tomorrow ... Always We all have special treasures That in memory transcend ... One of the very dearest Is an old and cherished friend. A friend is there when needed Without pretense or ado Today ... tomorrow ... always. His smile encourages you. New friends we surely welcome. Yet the ones who mean so much Are endeared by fond memories Of friendship’s velvet touch. A word of understanding. An extended hand in need. Remembrance of a token Or a sweet and thoughtful deed. What greater compensation Or happiness can one find, Than a friend in consonance With your feelings, heart and mind. Who may even disagree. Yet will always understand; Who greets you with a warm smile And a friendly outstretched hand. Acquaintances come and go Like all fair-weather friends. But those remaining faithful Are unmoved by fads or trends. In adversities of life, When our hearts are sad and blue, Today ... tomorrow ... always, True friends come smiling through! As 1 recount the friendships That have lasted and are true, Today ... tomorrow ... always ... I’m very grateful for you. Danita M. Dyer Love’s Enfoldment May all the joy of each new day Greet you with the rising sun, And may it wrap you close around Until the day is done. May love and happiness be yours Each moment ... every hour. May friendship’s warmth and glow Bud in your heart, and flower. May you share your many blessings With someone else along the way ... For thus you’ll find the beauty And the joy of each new day. Gail Elder James A Smile A smile is a sign that tells you Of a power greater than love; A smile is an added enjoyment Sent from heaven above. A smile is an angel of goodness That lurks in the shadows of thought; It’s never to be forgotten And always a thing to be sought. A smile should always follow you Everywhere to the end. So keep that smile forever... And forever you’ll keep a friend. Connie Mullady Joy There’s a world of joy in the simplest song, A smile for the greatest care; So much that’s worthwhile wherever you are As long as there’s happiness there. You can build a beautiful castle of dreams With a heavenly rose garden, too, And then in your heart someday you will find That dreams can so often come true. That each day of life is a beautiful one, Filled with joy of a rare special kind; And each little sadness can soon be forgotten If you’ll just put it out of your mind. For there’s joy in each star that shines up above And if you’ve never noticed before, There’s a smile and a song in each living thing That is growing right outside your door. There’s a whole world of gladness wherever you are And all of your life, it’s part . . . But the joy that’s most precious and dearest of all. Is the joy that we have in our heart. Directed by Lorraine Maguire, the comedy had a host of great actors and actresses. Performing for two evenings this year the Juniors did a fine job as did their director. Congrats, Jrs.!!! BROADWAY! The Speech Class under Mrs. Wol- kow’s direction travelled to Watertown for the Regional play contest. The play was a one-act drama entitled Turn the Other Face”. The plays were performed forjudges who talked with the cast immediately following their performance. They discussed your performance and gave ideas on how to improve it. The winners of the contest were announced later that night. “Turn the Other Face” didn’t win but one of its actors. Bob Pratt, received an award for outstanding supporting actor. He certainly deserved it!
