Maria Cecilia Pazelli Fachini BRAZIL Last August a new and wonderful life started for me. A new and completely different life. I saw myself being part of two families. A Brazilian family that was thousands of miles away and an American family, with whom I have lived this year, and who helped me in all my problems even when at the beginning of the year they couldn’t understand what I was talking about. Then, my first day at De Anza; the homework, the games (Ah! How I enjoyed football games!) the dances, everything was new and exciting, and every minute I was learning something new about you and your country. Now, the year is almost over, and I'm probably the only Senior (in the school) who doesn't want to get out of school, who would like to stay longer with you; but I have to go home, to finish my education at the University and after 7 years become a Psychiatrist, (as I want to). I will leave next July but I will never forget this wonderful year, this great experience I had knowing a lot about you, your country, your customs, and trying to tell you something about Brazil, our culture, national heritage and our way of life. Now, the only thing I can say to you is thank you; thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to come to your country, your com- munity, and your school to share with you the happiness of my senior year. Thank you for accepting me as one of you. May we always continue to walk together and talk together in every increasing friendship and understanding be- tween our two countries. 284 CECILIA
