MISS BHS T33 KENBELL Characters: Kendell Murphy, Patti Peterson, Joanne Calobrisi, Melanie Ledford Shawn Healey. Setting. DHS Auditorium Friday March 17 1978 fSt Patrick s DayJ 2.00. Act One. Inside the auditorium the crowd lingered in anxious expectation awaiting the beginning of the Miss DHS contest finals. Backstage the five opportune survivors primped and paused to compose themselves before the onset of the competition. Whether nervous or tranquil the contestants revealed themselves to be both gifted prepared and entertaining. Shawn Healey proved why she is a member of Avant-Garde the elite dance association by performing a gymnastics-dance rountine to the disco-fla- vored hit Night Fever. Joanne Calobrisi another Avant-Garde member demonstrated her prowess as both a mime and a dancer as she panto- mimed When Velma Takes the Stand. An amusing variation of Spanish Rose by Patti Peterson left the audience hysterical with laughter at her ingenious antics Melanie Ledford another member of Avant-Garde chose instead to spotlight her vocal aptitude by singing the Jackson Browne popular single Here Come Those Tears Again. But the turning point of the talent presentation came when Kendell Murphy Avant-Garde mem- ber danced to the euphonious score of the ballet film The Turning Point. Act Two. As the girls huddled closely together in anticipation a tie for Miss Congeniality was announced between Joanne Calobrisi and Patti Peterson and Kendell Murphy was proclaimed as the winner of the Most Talented award. Finally when the tension had risen to the apex Patti Peterson was declared to be First runner Up' Kendell Murphy became the new Miss DHS.
