We held weekly meetings, joint meetings with the Hi-Y, dances, parties and ot course the houseparty where we had the time of our lives. More important were the Thanksgiving baskets for the poor. The Growlers we sent to the D.H.S. alumni servicemen, help with 5leY Swevf the T.B. Drive, and when we ushered tor the HEART fund drive. It was a wonderful year for us all. Will we ever forget riding in Mary Jone's jeep in the pep parades or the dance we gave after Palatka game. Or decorating those towering goal gosts lor all the home games. That was indeed fun wasn't it? And then there was the ioint supper meeting with the Key Club, the hoyride, and banquets for the new members. But it wcsn't all a social whirl. We worked hard on the T. B. and the March of Dimes drives. The Sextette practiced for a long time to get in shape to fulfill various requests for musical entertainments. Adopting a family for Christmas and Thanksgiving and giving them a dinner with all the trimmings gave us a special feeling which lent a warm glow to the holiday seasons. Perhaps our most worthwhile proiect was collecting clothes for the war refugees in Korea. Then the thing we'd looked forward to so long, the house party. The Saxony was really something. All in all it's been pretty wonderful and we're glad to show our K. l Page 92 eralice. work, and fun W..-v ax M, ers M. - . The boys lost only three games all year, and came up wiihiimany honors as the season closed. The Bulldogs ended the season with an 8 and 3 record. The three setbacks were, the game with St. Augustine, the heart-breaking 7 to 6 defeat at the hands of P. K. Young, and the hard fought game with Sanford. The many wins included, the opening game with St. Leo, the first home game with Palatka, the game with Green Cove, and the defeat of our traditional rivals Seabreeze on a rain swept field. We then celebrated one of the best homecomings ever with a win over another Volusia county team, New Smyrna. The Bulldogs then travelled to the Gator Bowl and took the measure of Jacksonville Tech. The Bulldogs closed out a highly successful season by blanking Eustis on our home field. After the regular season the Bulldogs accepted an invitation to the Shrine Bowl, with the Cocoa High School furnishing the opposition. In the last minute of play the Bulldogs pushed across a score to win 20-I4 and became the first Bowl champs in the history of the school.
