During every week of the varsity football season, there comes a time before the football game where everyone jumps up and down to support the Cowboys. We're talking about the pep rallies, held on the morning of the last day of the school week, usually a Fri- day. These gatherings are to prove to the football teams tvarsity, junior varsity, and freshmanl that the Carter student body is with them in any athletic contest they participate in. The pep rallies last from 7:45 to 8:15 in the morning, but that's more than enough time. The Cheerleaders open with a few cheers to stir every0ne's blood. Then there is the posting of the colors and the Pledge. The Band, Calicos, Majorettes, and the junior Varsity Cheerleaders come next on the agenda. There is lots of music, singing, dancing - so much that the noise is almost deafening. There is also lots of competition for the spirit stick, given by the Cheerleaders in honor of the foot- ball teams. Then there is the sing- ing of the school song M Hail Carter High.
